I can't do it all at once! Can I break it into 2?

So here is my story - I'm soon-to-be 24, have not worked out since the beginning of high school (didn't stick with it, just the last time I tried) and am on day 3 of 30DS Level 1...
I powered through on the first day taking longer breaks in between than Jillian does on the video. Day 2 (yesterday) I was sore and broke it into 2 parts, one in the morning, then finished in the afternoon. Today I can barely sit or stand so I did 16 minutes of it (more than half).
Here is my question - I can log 27 minutes which is 412 calories burned... and I can log it into 2 parts, which equals he same amount (412)... so would it be ok to do half in the morning and half in the evening or afternoon? Should I take extra time doing level 1 until I CAN do it all at once?

I'd say YES!!!!
Take it as you can do it rather than trying to push too hard through it and burning out.
Definitely get comfortable with Level 1 before doing the next level!!!0 -
yes, yes, yes. Just keep pushing, keep working it. I have known people who did level 1 the whole 30 days and still got good results. GL!
and, for the record, I actually found level 2 a little easier than level 1..you might watch it one day to see what you think!0 -
To me, I would consider it doing the whole thing. Only because it's still calories burned just at two separate moments in time. So I'd go ahead and log it as one workout. I would do it that way at least. But that's just my own opinion. I'm no specialist or expert!0

You can break it into until you are strong enough to do it all at once, however you will get more benefit from trying to go as long as you can in one session. This is because your heart rate has to reach a certain point before you even start burning calories or fat. Either way, keep it up and don't give up!0

I think it's more beneficial to tough it out in one shot. I know the first couple of times I did it I was pausing the DVD like crazy, but the more you do it, the easier it'll get. Take your time to get it done, but you'll feel so great when you no longer need to pause it. I just finished L1 Day 10, so onto L2 next time!0

Hang in there, exercise will get easier and better and soon you'll look back and be amazed and what you can do!!!0

Bump I'd like to know as well b/cI can't get through it. I never thought about breaking it up. . .0

yeah, I think you should make sure you can do it all at once until you move on to level 2. I am on day 6 of level 1 at the moment the first 3 days absolutely killed me, it got harder each day, but on day 4 I felt myself getting better at it, still sweat loads but less dead! just stick with it, it DOES get easier0

Hey! The best part is that you're trying & you're moving. Yes, you are doing it! Congrats on taking the first step. That's what is important. If you need to break it up into parts to be able to do it than do so. Just keep trying. Yes. It's ok to repeat level 1 if you aren't ready to move on to the next level yet. The key is DO NOT GIVE UP. The more you do it, the more you'll be able to do. Stick with it. It's a journey, not a sprint. We're here 2 help encourage you along the way.

In fact it is SUGGESTED that you work out multiple times a day for shorter periods in the beginning in order to not burn out or hurt yourself...
I did that - 4 15 minute walking stints every day for 2 weeks then started doing 2 30s, then 60 at once... was a great way to build up0 -
I second or third.. when it comes to making sure you can complete the session at one time before moving on. I could not do a jumping jack, push up or any type of sit up when I started and wanted to just quit within 10 min, but some how I made it through the full work out. I have completed 12 days of level 1 (only because I have an interview tomorrow and did not want to be sore.. lol) I personally think you will get the most out of the workout if you can do it at one shot, once you can, I believe you will feel the same. Just remember to push yourself a little more each day, and it will be done!0

thanks guys and gals, now I won't feel so retarded LOL0

Truthfully, I DID get through the first half easier than the last couple days... so yeah I might tack on a few extra days to level 10

Don't feel bad, it is a really hard workout. I just completed level 1. For the first few days I had to pause the video inbetween transitions to catch my breath. Then I would start the dvd again and keep going. I think that is the best way to work your way up to the full time. Today was day 10 and I was able to do the whole thing without stopping and I am doing deep squats and lunges. If you break it up into two totally different times of day you aren't going to be working up your endurance as much. Plus I notice using my HRM that my burn is highest towards the end of the workout, increasing as I go along, so you may not be burning as much with two short bursts as you would with one longer one.0

I think you are doing great! My answer would be yes - split it up. As long as you are motivated to doing it - your stamina will catch up to your willpower! Just go with it. I bet you feel great (inside)!:flowerforyou:0
