I just started logging and I'm confused for today
Net calories are 1200ish
Fit bit is showing I burned 2500 calories
I get 1700 daily from mfp but after exercise I am getting net 1200 so am I right in understanding that I can have 500 more calories? Or no?

Your diary seems to be set to private. At least I can't access it. But generally, yes, if mfp says you have calories left, then you do.

you are not weighing your food accurately.

get a food scale. learn how to use it.

and eat back roughly half your exercise calories once you are weighing your food correctly.

Most people suggest only eating back half of exercise calories until you're sure of the accuracy of the device measuring your burns.

Yes, MFP is designed for you to eat back your exercise calories. Many choose to eat back 50-70% of them, because calories burned estimates tend to be over-inflated.

Yes, to be precise, 445 more calories.

I just checked it's set to public
But if my daily goal is 1700 and I've got over 400 via exercise? It's showing my daily goal as over 2100 now but I've already consumed 1700.

Right, which means you've eaten at MFP's daily calorie goal and you now have 400 more calories you're able to eat for the day, should you choose to do so.

MFP sets your daily goal to include a deficit based on your activity level without exercise. when you do additional exercise, that raises the number of calories you can eat for the day.

Your daily goal is 1700. You burned 400 calories from exercise. MFP is designed to have you eat back your exercise calories, so it added your 400 burned calories from exercise to your daily calorie goal. 1700+400=2100.

    Does that clear things up?
