Oh honey - so sorry you fell for this scam and wasted your money on useless pills. There's no correct way to take them - they don't actually do a thing for weight loss. Eat at a calorie deficit and get some movement if you want to lose weight.

    That article is total *kitten*.

If you eat actual food at a calorie deficit, you'll lose weight. If you LOVE drinking apple cider vinegar, then do it as long as it fits within your calorie goals.

Just adding an apple cider vinegar and whatever the heck the other thing is to your existing diet will have no increase on your weight loss capabilities.

I think, do it whatever way you want and the outcome will be the same.

I'm sure more folks will be along to elaborate shortly.

ACV for "weight loss" has been around since the 1970's. They must be running out of new material. It doesn't help you lose weight. Be very careful as this is hard on your tooth enamel.

None of that will work. There is no scientific evidence to support that they work. How could they? How would vinegar and a herb work unless they somehow absorbed calories you ingest? There is no quick fix or magic potions.... do the work like everyone else. And 37lb a month? This has to be a joke... that's over 1lb loss per day. A safe rate of loss is .5-2lbs per WEEK. Anything claiming a 1lb per day loss is pulling your chain... it is simply not possible even if you ate nothing every day for a month (I highly doubt your TDEE is 3500+ a day....

Anything endorsed by Dr Oz should be avoided. He is a quack.

There is evidence to support that a calorie deficit works, though. The basic idea is that if you eat below your maintenance, you'll lose fat. If you eat above your maintenance you'll gain fat (or muscle and fat if you're lifting heavy).

Yeah, studies have shown that Garnicia Cambogia does nothing for meaningful weight loss. I've provided a couple of links for you to read below. The same can be said for apple cider vinegar. Weight loss is all about eating less and, to a somewhat lesser extent, moving more.

  • Way to go in researching how to effectively lose weight! There is a overwhelming amount of information out there so be sure to weed out that which makes claims like losing 37 pounds in one month. This would be virtually impossible by the means you stated in your original inquiry. Just be sure to eat whole foods, get adequate exercise, and drink diluted organic apple cider vinegar (ACV) with the "mother," meaning it is unpasteurized and therefore has the health benefits your body needs. Good luck on your weight loss journey!

37lbs in a MONTH. That's got to be the best claim yet.

Try it and tell us how that works out for you.

Apple cider vinegar is great for removing warts, so if you have a few kilo of warts you could be on to a winner.

There is no scientific evidence that either of these products, used individually or in combination, has any direct impact on weight loss. Unfortunately OP, you were swayed like many people by promises of quick weight loss, which just isn't going to happen - not in a sustainable, healthy way. Weight loss comes from a calorie deficit, period. Taking in these products is not going to create that calorie deficit for you.

    My standard advice:
    1. Enter current stats, a reasonable weight loss goal and an appropriate rate of loss into MFP set up.
    2. MFP will calculate a calorie deficit for you based on these stats.
    3. Eat a variety of foods up to that calorie target, focusing on foods that provide you nutrition (macro and micro nutrients), satiety (fill you up) and enjoyment (helps with adherence).
    4. Log everything you eat as accurately and honestly as possible, ideally using a food scale.
    5. Exercise if you enjoy it, eating back at least a portion of those exercise calories.
    6. Have reasonable expectations - 37 pounds in a month is definitely not reasonable. 37 pounds should take approximately 37 weeks to lose, if you have less than 50 total to lose.
    7. Be consistent and patient - monitor and adjust based on your actual results.

Why does OP have to eat whole foods?

    What health benefits?

Drinking ACV even with the mother does NOTHING other than lighten your wallet and strip enamel off your teeth. It is a fermented food though.... it does not assist in weight loss.

Whole foods are great for health, but not primarily necessary for weight loss. All that is needed is a calorie deficit. Weight loss isn't about what foods you should and shouldn't eat...

You might try to face North while you take that stuff. I have no idea what that will do, but many times cows face North(in the northern hemisphere) while they sleep.

It's a fairly inexpensive lesson to learn now.

Edited BOTH topics? Why? It contained fantastic information on why garcinia combogia and ACV doesn't work for weight loss that would have been helpful to others. How rude! You cannot get upset because no one agreed that ACV and GC work for weight loss... many explained (took time out of their days) why it wouldn't work with science to back their information up. The least you could have done is say thank you to those who offered their advice. :/

I don't know if it is rude or not but it is certainly immature.

OP if you are sorry that you started these threads then just ask the mods to delete them for you.

In the meantime...no if all of these fads worked there would be no overweight people. We would all be popping pills...drinking nasty vinegar and skinny as rails.

Op sorry if you're feeling unsupported. The fact is, we're supporting you by NOT supporting "eat this/take this/one weird trick" methods because they don't work, and we WANT you to succeed. The longer you wait for "tricks" to work, the more time you're wasting when you could be making progress and building calories good habits. (What the hell was I thinking when I wrote that? Building calories?)

@xcheyxo18 why did you edit the subject and topic? This post could have been helpful to others seeking the same information.

For the lurkers and those who are late to the conversation:

A post about ACV and garcinia combogia for weight loss.

That's the last time I let school get in the way of MFP

The post originally was about Garcinia Cambogia and Apple Cider Vinegar. I read an article that stated if you use dilute the apple cider vinegar and take two Garcinia Cambogia pills you will lose a lot of weight. I am currently trying this, no it may not work but it's worth a try, as well as eating healthy and working out. I just posted to see if anyone has tried this. Thank you for all who is responding with feedback.

Many have. It either a) did nothing or b) had a placebo effect.
