Mid-day office workout-gals

I'm lucky to have a gym in my office, with a shower and very flexable schedule. However, I dislike the idea of showering miday, reapplying all my expensive make up and looking a mess when I get back to my desk. Do any of you workout midday? How do you pull it off? (I have short hair so no bun for me)

That's an awesome perk! Can you work out hard before your work day and then walk or a simple not sweating abs mid-day? (I now work from home so I don't have the swearing at my desk issue)

I have worked out at lunch for years. I have longer hair but the texture allows for me to wash it and blow dry it. I also don't wear too much makeup so I will not be very helpful here. Maybe you could just stick to reapplying the essentials like mascara and foundation?

I do and I sweat a lot. Luckily though, I don't have to be around many people; I just sit in my cube, therefore I don't shower until I get home after work. I throw on some deodorant and call it a day. I just hacked off all my hair, so it's usually a wreck, but I throw some product in it and make it look half decent (there's a blow dryer in the locker room), but I swore by my messy bun when it was longer. I don't wear much makeup, so I just wipe down my face and leave my eye makeup intact.

If I were to have to interact with people regularly at work, I probably wouldn't be able to do this. Thankfully, that's not the case and I can take my lunch to work on me.

I would only do exercise that is not really sweaty. At one point I was doing lunchtime yoga, for example, and I didn't shower after that. If I did sweatier exercise it would have to be a very short session and I'm not sure it would be worth it for the effort.

I don't wear makeup other than lipstick so I don't have any suggestions about that.

I run late so when i get back i only have 2 hours left of the work day. No shower and I'll slap on some deodorant. I also sit alone.

If I have to workout at lunch, I'm like @jemhh and avoid anything too sweaty. As I usually lift, that's not much of an issue. I rarely break a sweat lifting. Then I'll just wipe down with a baby wipe, reapply deodorant, and give a spray of Dove's scented body deodorizer.

My gym has a location next door to my office. I often can't get away for lunch, but I try to whenever I can! Sometimes that's exactly what I need.

I did this for a couple years (just got a promotion and can't anymore) and it was never a big deal for me. I'd throw my hair up, run 3-4 treadmill miles or do a 30 min strength session, then quickly rinse off in the shower (keeping my hair dry except right around my hairline if necessary), spritz some dry shampoo and brush out my hair, give my face a wipe with a makeup remover cleansing wipe, then reapply tinted moisturizer and mascara and I was good to go. I don't wear much makeup daily so I never looked noticeably different (apart from a bit of pinkness in the face sometimes) when I got back in the afternoon. After a while it's just routine and you can do a quick 3 minute shower and 10 min max for the other grooming if you keep it simple.

The dry shampoo is really the key to keeping it quick for me though, as I have waist-length hair and it takes ages to wash and dry. But with that stuff, I can just give it a spray, brush it out, and it's good to go. Looks fine, smells good.

I could never do the gym at lunch if I needed to reapply a full face of makeup, though, it just takes too long.

Assuming a gym that has decent AC or low heat in the winter, lifting weights doesn't make me sweat and no shower is needed. Ditto for yoga. That's actually how I started doing yoga in the 90s - I had an option of yoga or aerobics classes, and figured I'd need a shower after aerobics but not yoga.

I used to swim at lunch and needed to shower afterwards to get the chemicals off, and that was kind of a pain because of the time involved and wet towels. I ended up switching swimming to not lunch time.

When I worked in an office and now that I am self employed I am able to work late to make up for long lunches.

This is a great question!! I know very little about weight lifting but it might be a good addition to my normal nightly routine at the workout studio. I have the luxury of a nice weight room at work that I could possibly incorporate. Any non sweaty weight workouts out there???

I think the sweat varies. I sweat like I'm channeling Whitney Houston every time I lift. But I'm also hot all day long most days (ooh lala.)
