Anyone doing shakeology? Thoughts on it?

It has never appealed to me. I like food and have lost and am maintaining eating ordinary food.9

Its expensive and not that great. The "coaches" will expound on the miracles of it, but you can find a better tasting protein powder, quality probiotic and vitamin for less.17

It helped me with cravings when I started, but it wasn't worth the crazy price tag... Honestly, I was extremely motivated though, so just using any other protein shake would have probably worked just as well.
Two of the flavors I tried were disgusting though, and yeah they gave me my money back, but I still lose $13 in shipping...4 -

I would never do it - but my cousin has lost 50 lbs starting two years ago using it. She loves and swears by it. I cant argue with her results. It is the best she has ever looked.0

Buy real food, a good protein powder, and make your own smoothies! Save time, save money, and know exactly what's going in to your food. Also, don't rely on smoothies to replace your meals as a weight-loss tool. Smoothies are great to get extra greens, fiber, and nutrients, but one for breakfast here and there is plenty. Learning to cook for yourself will be the best way you can improve your health, and you'll never learn how to cook if you rely on shakes and smoothies. Best of luck to you!6

Must be blessed by jesus.
Maybe this means i can stop eating well and going to the gym, the two definitely don't relate at all.. i dont drink shakes.
Hey I'm immunosuppressed and hardly ever get sick. I guess I just practice better hygeine than a BB coach9 -
My thoughts on Shakeology: If you're watching macros, it is sometimes difficult to eat enough protein while still maintaining your numbers on fats and carbs (particularly fats). I use a meal replacement (not Shakeology) to reach my higher protein numbers. I have used Shakeology in the past and while I don't have the negative comments others do, I do agree that it is (a) expensive; and (b) you can get high quality protein powder for far less. It is difficult to find non-biased reviews on the product because I believe Beachbody patrols the Internet for negative reviews. Most "reviews" are from coaches. My guess is that the ingredients do add some value, but they've been pulverized to such a degree that it is probably not nearly as high value as the adverts would suggest and probably would not support the much higher cost. I personally use Beverly UMP, which is delicious. I mix it with water to give it a pudding consistency because I don't like "shakes" and eat it with 1/2 a banana or a little oatmeal post work-out. I also use it to make protein pancakes, which are delicious. (And no, I do not sell it. I don't think it is a distributorship system, but I could be wrong. I buy it from my gym or at Vitamin World.)4

I started back here in August, using shakeology and 21 day fix through the end of September. Beachbody was doing a promotion where they'd pay you if you participated. I did get paid, by the way. I lost weight. I got good workouts.
But here's the thing. I stopped after that and went on to lose just as much weight without it eating normal food. I think it's a bit overrated, unfortunately. You can absolutely lose weight by simply eating right and working out.
I can say a few things for the shakes- I snacked less drinking them. I got way more protein than usual since meat isn't my favorite and I always struggle with protein. I didn't crave so much other crap while drinking them and that carried on then after stopping too.
I got my shakeology from my mom. So I invested nothing into it. Would I buy it now having used it? No way. It's too expensive.
Hope that helps.8 -
Just one shake a day for a month is as much as some people spend on actual food for themselves for a month. I've tried the 21 Day Fix and I was the only one in my group not to use Shakeology because of the price. It isn't a miracle powder. That pretty much got me kicked out of the group. That, and deviating from the container rules because otherwise I was 600 calories short.0

Total waste of money.
You can make a healthy and delicious shake (if that is what you want) for a fraction of the cost by doing the shopping and prep yourself.
If you just want it because of the claims of awesome weight loss, then you can do that all on your own without any shakes of any sort.
Don't line the pockets of BB coaches or a company like this.2 -
I was not a fan. It tasted like chalk. I am also not a fan because it doesnt use the best proteins (whey, casien, or egg) and it is overpriced. There are a lot of quality protein shakes and meal replacement for a fraction of the price.
www.labdoor.com is a great place to look at qualtiy.2 -
I just Googled how much it costs, $130 for 30 servings. If that's correct, damn that's expensive!
I use a meal replacement shake, that isn't advertised for weight loss, and it comes to approximately £0.70 a serving (that's around $0.90), look around if you want to buy shakes or consider making your own. At the end of the day, you still need to be in a deficit to lose weight.1 -
I stay away from MLMs as a rule. Never buy a product through an MLM that you could easily find in a regular store. Garden of Life makes an excellent meal replacement shake powder and it's cheaper (they also make protein powders). There are tons out there, though. Any product that comes with strings attached (like a subscription service, having to listen to a spiel before buying, etc) sets off alarm bells for me.3

It's a scam and a waste of money - I'd stay far away from it.
You can get a better quality protein powder and a multivitamin that are much cheaper.
Don't fall for the snake oil sales pitches. You don't need that stuff.1 -
Overpriced scam. The only person who benefits from it are the "coaches" (and I use that term in the most derisive way possible) peddling it to you. There are much better products available on the open market at much better prices and you won't have a "coach" pestering you to become part of his/her MLM downline to increase his/her profits.
Those "coaches" receive no education or training in nutrition or fitness whatsoever, they just pay their $39.99 fee and voila, they're a "coach". It even says right in the Beachbody Coach FAQ that there's no necessity to know anything about fitness. So if you don't know anything about fitness or nutrition, how are you qualified to be a "coach"?
Here's a pharmacist's take on Snakeoilogy:

To hit this point home.. After I purchased Hammer/Chisel (which I really like), I was approached within 3 days if I wanted to be a "coach". If there's anyone on this planet who is unqualified to hold that title - it's me.
Shakeology is an industrial pure waste of money in my view.
I always say.. Enjoy the Beachbody programs - toss Shakeology and the food program in the trash.

I like Shakeology. The price however is crazy. I use 1/2 scoop a day to save money.0
-
I use the beachbody programs for workouts because I really like them. Shakeology really bothered my stomach for some reason and it was so expensive. I use IdealShape now and I really like the taste and find that it curbs my hunger. It's cheaper and nobody is trying to sell me anything, lol.3

I do not drink Shakeology, way too expensive, but I just want to comment that it is not meant to be a "protein" shake lot a lot of you seem to think because you keep saying there are cheaper protein powders. It's meant to be a meal replacement, I guess like Slim Fast and others for people who aren't good at preparing their own food and lacking nutrients or just want something on the go.0

I don't believe in meal replacements but I am for anything that helps people lose weight. I do my own home shakes, but if you want to buy premades there are much better products that Shakeology. Here is a quick guide, but do lots of research out there on the web. I use Costco a lot and buy stuff cheap.

I've lost over 50 lbs and have kept it off since 2013! ***And I did it with good old fashioned eating right and exercise. Sure protein shakes and supplements can assist with health and weight loss but in the end - we all know the foods that are good for us, exercise is good, water is good, more sleep is good, etc... I've been approached to become a coach and/or buy shakeology and have tried it. It tastes good but not for back then it was $130 - that's 2 weeks of groceries for me! NOPE3

I hate the shakeology coaches with a passion so I refuse to even try shakeology.
I get added to all these stupid weight loss challenges by coaches so I've started straight up asking the coaches, "are you saying I'm fat?" That gets them to leave me alone.5 -
A friend of mine is starting this on Monday. I so want to scream at her that it's just a scam and only works because she is starving yourself (900 calories a day is her target). But I'm a supportive friend so I'm being positive and encouraging even though it's killing me to do so0

Sorry but a good friend deserves to hear the truth. Would you support her if her mission what to jump off a bridge?
Being a good friend doesn't mention supporting dumb choices, in fact, a good friend would try to stop a friend from making those bad choices.4 -

I definitely have less hunger using it, which surprised me as I assumed it was all hype since there's so much negativity surrounding the product. I also am much more regular (which is super nice, since I've had horrible problems for years in that department.) I do feel like I have more energy, but who knows if that's just a placebo effect & attributable to working out now, whereas before I was not. And the oddest positive for me is that my skin is really good since I've been using it and I usually have atleast a few nasty big pimples a month.
It is stupidly expensive. I'm not sure how long I'll keep using it bc of the price. I gave up my daily mocha so I figure that covers the cost. And I'm a horrible eater by nature, so I'm never gonna eat tons of veggies and I don't eat red meat... so it works for me, easy and quick.
I really like the beach body workouts. I've been doing the PiYo series and am almost done with my two months, so am excited to take my measurements and see what progress I've made.
Do what makes you happy. Try something new if you want, if you've got the money to spend. There's no commitment, so I'm not sure why there's such a fuss over it.1
