Ive been dieting (1200 cal diet) per my dietican but I had no change at all in my weight. It's only been a week but still, as we all who struggle with weight we waant to see some change on the scale. This is very fustrating to be dedicated to dieting and see no results. I do walk (try to walk fast pace) 30 mins a day 5 days a week) I have fibromyalgia so I know this extra weight is just making harder on my body. :frown:
Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do to see results? I would like to lose at least 2lbs a week. I have had my thyroid test and that is normal. The only recommendations from my doctor is diet pills... I really do not want to go that route.
I really appericate anyone feed back
Thank You!!

it would help to know how much you weigh since the closer you are to a healthy weight the harder it is to lose. I was on a 1200 calorie diet and lost weight consistently then it stopped for a longgggggg time. now i am eating more and losing weight again. also you have to remember that it has ONLY been a week. these things take time and you have to be patient and stick with it.0

I didnt lose weight at all for the first 2 weeks, but I dropped inches as I replaced fat with muscle. After that it becomes much easier, and the weight comes off0

You have to be patient, you are in this for the long haul.
Sadly no-one can lose weight overnight. You need to do it slowly and steadily - bit by bit.
A few tips would be not to weigh yourself every day (you will drive yourself nuts!) also take your measurements once a week.
If you have a lot to lose then set yourself mini goals - IE don't think about losing 40lb, just concentrate on those first 10lbs.
Make sure you tell yourself that even if you haven't lost you are still much healthier by eating right and working out...0 -

Takes about a month for your body to adjust to the change. You have to give it time. I can't believe a doctor would recommend diet pills.
I had very successful weight loss by dropping my carbs and increasing my protein and fats. I kicked out grains, most dairy, most fruit for the time being (body sees fruit sugar and table sugar as the same things - glucose and fructose), flours and sugars. When you drop the carbs (I get them as fibrous veggies) you don't have to count calories. Protein and fats are more filling than carbs (with blood sugar crash comes hunger).
But even with a carb drop there is about a month of "withdrawl" as your body figures out what to do. Eventually your body starts digging into your fat storage for energy because you aren't feeding it carbs all day (and keeping your blood sugar levels elevated so your body has to constantly be pumping out insulin to take care of the sugar levels - carbs drive insulin and insulin drives fat storage) and you start dropping body fat. (6 months of "dieting": 9.6lbs; 6 weeks of Primal/Paleo - 6.8lbs - at a healthy weight - was told it was impossible to lose that fast at a healthy weight).
Most people think this is a fad diet thanks to the government but eating whole natural, healthy foods is not a fad - it's what our body knows. I have read more success stories on the internet regarding permanent happy weight loss this way than I have from people cutting calories and doing excessive cardio exercise.
Just give it some time.0 -
First off, the diet pill idea is ridiculous & dangerous - and most of all, not needed.
I have fibromyalgia, so I know how difficult it is to balance the exercise when you hurt so much. The reason I started this year was because, due to previous injuries to my knees, I was potentially headed for knee surgery. That scared the crap out of me. I didn't have a scale until recently, however, so I have no idea how long it took me to lose. I just knew if I ate healthy foods, exercised (and I could in no way start out w/30 min a day!! congrats on that, btw - I did NONE in the beginning, lol).
It would help if you could share your weight & your food diary - we're all in the same boat, and we're here to support each other. We could help you there.
The foods I do best on, for instance, are lots of veggies (esp. green veggies) and some fruits, along with low fat protein. I eat a little bread (used to make it every day!!) - been trying to cut that out completely, but it's difficult for me. :noway: I've increased my exercise as I've felt better - not only have I lost a good chunk of weight, but the knee pain is practically gone (there is significant cartilage loss in both, but hey, makes a difference that I'm not carrying around a few sacks of potatoes, lol.
You can do it - just don't expect instant results. My rheumy told me once, that it took a long time for me to put the weight on - that I should expect to lose it at the same rate. I made glad I lost it fast for my extreme health reasons! Like I said, though - I didn't even weigh myself (until I found out at my dr visit that I had lost about 15 lbs).0
