Looking to buy a new cookbook...

I am tired of cooking the same things over and over and want to buy a new cookbook. But I am looking for something that has quick meals especially on weeknights and that is fresh and whole clean foods...not so much processed foods. I like the WWs shortcut cookbook but you end up using pre-packaged processed foods and I'm trying to stay clear of that.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Hungry Girl is amazing. You can find a bunch of her stuff online. But if you want something that is pretty diverse and easy, check out Good Housekeeping Fast Weeknight Favorites. I bought it at Kohl's for $5. You can always substitute items for what you like. That's what I do. It keeps the calories, fat, and everything else down.

I can suggest one that I have, it's called 500 Heart-Healthy Slow Cooker Recipes, the recipes I have made so far have all been good and been a big hit with my family as well. Also has all the nutrition facts for each recipe if your calculating points. Hope this helps.

Instead of buying one and stuck with it, try just google it. There are so many online recipes that you can find.

I like The Pampered Chef's new "Make it Fresh, Make it Healthy" cookbook. Everything is low in fat and sodium and is designed to be made in about 30 mins. I made a pork tenderloin recipe from there last week that was OUTSTANDING and pretty low in calories.

I have it and like it as well. Best part is that they have specific sections called 3 ingredient meals, purposely intended to be quick and easy. You can take a look at recipes on the hungry girl website to make sure you like before you buy too.

Also, have you looked at www.eatingwell.com? This is a great site for healthy recipe ideas. They have specific slideshows for 30 minute meals. www.skinnytaste.com is great as well.

Hungry Girl relies too much on processed and artificial junk.

    These are my favorite cookbooks:
The Art of Simple Food by Alice Waters
Edible: A Celebration of Local Foods by Tracey Ryder and Carole Topalian (only the last third of this is recipes, but the rest is darn good reading)
Greens Glorious Greens by Johnna Albi and Catherine Walthers
Food to Live By by Myra Goodman

and for quick indulgences using my all-time favorite ingredient,
    Thirty-Minute Pasta by Giuliano Hazan

500 low carb recipes is great and now there is a new one 500 MORE low carb recipes....I got mine at a used book sale at our local library for $2 vs $20 at Borders.

Some awesome recipes we already made in it and very clean eating.

Thank you all for all the great ideas! I picked up the Cooking Light "Fresh Food Superfast". It has some amazing recipes in it which seem so easy to make. My DH was peeking in it and already wants me to make the Buffalo Chicken Pizza which uses a whole wheat tortilla, that and the Baked Potato Soup.

I'm actually excited about cooking again and can't wait to plan my menu for next week!
