Tell yourself next time you want some chocolate cake you'll make or buy a tasty one. Drink some water today and take a walk (if you're able), that should help with the bloating.

I don't think motivation is all it's cracked up to be. It's better to work on your compulsive tendencies. Something that helped me was to stop demonizing food, and instead eat the most delicious foods I could "afford" calorie-wise. I've just stopped being a person who routinely overeat.

Try fitting a small piece of cake into your daily calories or save some calories throughout the week for a larger piece.

Just jump back on the wagon and try to stick within a daily or weekly calorie goal today!

Life's too short to waste calories on sub par food  I've done it too and regretted it afterward, but live and learn and start fresh tomorrow. One piece of cake is not going to ruin anything.

Hubby and I went to a Brazilian BBQ place for our anniversary last week and split one of those giant layered pieces of chocolate cake for dessert. It wasn't good either, but I kept eating it (probably because it cost so freaking much). I wasn't happy I ate the cake, but I got right back on track the next day, and that piece of cake didn't even cause a blip in my progress.

    Reset!

Last week I had a donut. It wasn't even very good but I didn't stop eating it. Next time, I'm going some place excellent for my donut.

Thank you for your post. It helped me realize that this happens and I need to accept it and move on.

I ate too much pasta tonight. I met friends for dinner after my yoga class and I was more hungry than I expected to be and my plan went out the window. Now I have that blah, full feeling. Hate it. But, I'm going to accept that it happened and that I didn't stick to my plan and I'm going to move on. It really is the best thing to do.

Learn from the moments when you overeat or eat something that wasn't that great. Aim to do better next time and, do better next time.

It did serve a purpose, because next time you will throw that crap away! Forgive yourself and move forward.

Ditto! I tried going without chocolate/sweets for several days many times, but then would inhale an entire row of cookies or something by the end of the week! Now, I allot myself 5-6 dark chocolate Hershey kisses each day and I'm good.
