I put mine in the same day, but before I eat anything, according to what I feel like that day. It's better than eating then recording, for getting the macros right, and it's better than inputting the day before because I don't always feel like eating what I'd planned out.

I pre-log up to a week in advance. It helps me stay on track. I do give myself leniency if something comes up and I'll change it. but it also helps me make sure I'm using what I have in my house. And gives me an exact plan for eating leftovers without eating the same thing every single day. AND helps me know what I need to get out and cook when I get home from work.

I do this. I am gone from the house from 7am-5pm. I can't afford to be eating out everyday (even the healthy options) so I have to pack my breakfast, lunch and any snacks. I always Prelog while I am prepped my lunch kit the night before. This way if something is going higher than I expected I can either switch it out or I can eat less at supper. Tonight my kids have asked for homemade chicken strips and fries, and I intend to enjoy some with them! So I packed lower calories for the day, so I can indulge a bit when I get home this evening :)

I pre log my food for my evening meal each day when I am logging in my lunch.
I know how many calories I have left for the day by then.

So, I feel kind of guilty about this but I find it helps as a form of meal planning. I put it in the night before, same with my exercise and then I feel more obligated to do the workouts and eat what I planned. Anyone else think it's a good system? What are your meal planning ideas? TIA

When I logged I did...not sure why you would feel guilty about that...having a plan is usually a good idea...winging it is sub optimal.

Proper planning prevents piss poor performance...

In the morning I add my breakfast, lunch, fruit etc for the day then I know where I am for tea in the evening. Find it just stops any unplanned snacking as I know I'm eating into the evening meals calories.

I think I learnt about prelogging in here - I don't remember how I did calorie counting previously (10 years ago). Prelogging gives me predictability which I like/need. I generally want what I have planned, and I live alone (nobody to mess up my plans), so it works for me. I still plan my meals, but not in here. It's a great way to make sure I have tasty balanced meals and at the same time use up everything, and I always know when I have to buy more food.

    Curious about "guilty"!

I think it's GREAT to log in advance - less stress today if you planned it yesterday. Sure, if things go awry, I change my log. I'm inspired by this thread o plan even further in advance!

I just finished putting down my meals for Sunday as a form of meal planning. But I haven't logged anything for Saturday yet because I have everything packed in tupperware already so it's plain data entry to do...while on Sunday I do mean to cook, for real. Uncommon for me!

I don't, but I'm a 'fly by the seat of your pants' kinda gal when it comes to meal planning lol. If it is working and keeping you motivated and in check, then keep doing it!

yes, esp if I am following my macro goals. it really helped me stay on track to pre-plan. I didn't always follow it strictly but it was easy to adjust.
