Will you be my accountability partner?

I have been a member of MFP for about 6 years now, although I have not been active for the last year or so, due to some big things going on in my life. I have been very successful with losing weight in the past...the problem was that I just kept gaining it back after every one of my nine (yes, 9!) pregnancies (including 4 miscarriages), and each time it was harder to lose. As a result of my recent issues (more details of which I could share with my accountability partner, if needed), I gained nearly 60 pounds in a very short time span, and I have been carrying that weight (plus another 40 I'd like to lose) for the last year or so, and I'm really ready to shed it. As I cannot count on my husband to be my accountability partner, I am looking for someone from this community. Ideally I would love for it to be someone who is similar to me in age, life experience, etc., so that we can connect. I would be looking to open my diary to this person, and do a weekly weigh-in with scale photos.
I am 43 years old, mother of five (ages 9-18), married 20 years. I am a SAHM and I homeschooled our children for the last ten years, but sent them to school this year. Since they are now all in school, I have gone back to supply teaching and am teaching an average of two days per week. I was born and raised in a fairly conservative, Calvinist Reformed church, and my faith is a very important aspect of my life. I live in Ontario, Canada.
If you feel like we would be a good fit as accountability partners, and you want some extra motivation as well, please reply here or private message me with a bit of a write-up about yourself. Thanks so much!

If you were "successful" with weight loss after each pregnancy but kept gaining it back, it strikes me that you were dieting and depriving yourself then yo-yoing it back.
Often people think they need to "eat clean" or "eat healthy" or "diet" to lose weight.
Your prospective accountability buddy needs to support you in eating whatever you want within your calorie limit.
Yes, eat whatever you want, within your calorie limit.
That's a strategy that you can maintain for life. Not just for new year, or post-pregnancy. For life.1 -
dump question but what does an accountability partner do ?0

I think you need a monthly "me day" in order to help control the weight gain. My daughter has had 6 miscarriages due to (newly found) Lupus and kidney issues. She loses weight with stress. She eats properly and often but loses weight when even minor issuese surface. Lack of sleep and even minor stress issues including good stress(eg. running a household, new baby) can have a huge impact on brain chemical levels which control EVERYTHING. I've gained over 100lbs since having my last child (22yrs ago). I learned a few yrs ago how to stop gaining. I take "me" days. I make sure home is ok. I would leave my children with family (someone trustworthy and can handle anything including hospital visits without me if necessary) and spend the night at a hotel or a few hours on a picnic just for me. I am now ready to lose this weight. I will turn my monthly "me" day into a bi-weekly event. Happy mind, happy body!1

Sorry, I said that wrong. What I meant was that I would gain weight with each pregnancy, and then successfully lose it again each time, but I found that with each progressive pregnancy and with my increasing age, I found it more difficult each time. During those years of pregnancies, I did not deprive or yo-yo, I attended WW and did very well losing the weight properly while eating what I wanted. I was very fit and active, attending Crossfit, running two half marathons and several 10km races, and so on. As recently as 5 years ago, I was still at my goal weight (my baby is now 9). The real problem began a few years ago when some big personal and family issues caused increased stress, health issues, depression, medications that caused weight gain, etc., and that's how I packed on all this extra weight. Now that those issues are finally under control, I'm looking to drop this excess baggage once and for all.

dump question but what does an accountability partner do ?
Not a dumb question! It's essentially the same as what the whole group here does, just on a one-on-one basis. So you might have your food diaries and profiles open to each other, check in with each other every day or so, give support if one of you is feeling weak or tempted, and do a weekly photo weigh-in. Just adds an extra layer of accountability for those of us who need it.
Thanks very much ladies, I have two accountability partners now (jadakiss228 and angel469) so I'm good. But if you are looking for an accountability partner, maybe you can ask someone else who offered on this thread?
