Hey :)
I have a little problem.. i eat way too much snacks. Overall, my diet is going pretty good. But it's just those little snacks in between, the ones i can't seem to resist, that really add up. In calories, and therefore weight.

I used to eat about 3 chocolate bars a day. I do realize this is wayy too much XD now, it's about 3 a week. But almost every day, i cant resist getting some nuts, or raisins, or sometimes the chocolate.. I have already switched to a bit healthier snacks (the nuts and raisins). But i heard that nuts are really pretty fatty too? I am a vegetarian, and have been told to eat lots of nuts to make up for the lack of protein. But i don't want it to cause me getting more fat.. I eat mostly peanuts. How many calories are in those? is it bad to have some everyday? What could i eat instead, low-fat and high-protein? thanks guys :)

  • What about chopping up some celery, carrots, whatever salad you like into bitesize chunks and putting it into a little tub so its right there when you get "the urge"?

Nuts are generally filled with more of the good fats from what I've been told...plus they are filling.

Nuts are very high in fat, but if you keep track of serving sizes on MFP and are careful with measuring you should be fine. Peanuts are fine but almonds and walnuts are even better for your health (higher in Omega-3s). Eat cashews sparingly because they have super super high fat content. Also, if you're into the crunchy/salty/nutty thing, I am obsessed with soy nuts...they're basically roasted soybeans that taste just like nuts but have SUPER high protein content. Again, portion size is very important, 1/4 c has like 130 cals (but that's often true of nuts, and at least in this case it's coming more from protein than fat). They're kind of hard to track down but very worth it in my opinion. Try limiting your portions of nuts and introducing less calorie-dense snacks such as air-popped popcorn, Pria or other small energy bars, fat-free, little- or no-sugar-added dairy, fruits and veggies, and beans.

I have started eating crispbreads - only 16 calories per slice and put somethig on them like sliced banana or grapes, or tuna and lettuce?

First of all you have to lose the mindset you are on a diet...this is a lifestyle change! and its about making small steps. Buy the treat small sized choc bars and plan your food intake and exercise so you CAN have ONE treat size chocolate bar a day!
