Valentine's day

We kind of treat it like another day. Our wedding anniversary is only a few weeks after, so we make a bigger deal out of that. I have never really understood or been a big fan of Valentine's Day anyways. Some years we make a nice dinner at home, other years we completely ignore. This is more of a completely ignore year.0

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who hates going out on Valentine's day. I would rather have the boyfriend cook my steak perfectly and have have dinner with him and the kids.
Everytime I go out on Valentine's day I end up at a restaurant where a couple is fighting or there's screaming kids. I will walk out of the restaurant if there is a "limited menu", usually it's way over priced.0 -
We went out to an expensive restaurant last night and got all dressed up. He bought me a few boxes of chocolate (he said he couldn't decide on which one to get ) and some books I've been wanting. There's also a fancy kitchen gadget in my future I believe.
I logged as best I could, but believe my estimates may be way off. *shrugs* Either way, I was over and got back to it today.1 -
My six-year old daughter has been pining for "Taco Tuesday." Therefore, me, the hubby and little one will be enjoying a delightful dinner of crock pot chicken tacos and canned black beans.
I don't buy into Valentine's Day too much. It's another Hallmark holiday to me, really more for the kids and of course I love to see my daughter enjoy it. Our anniversary is the really special day to celebrate alone just the two of us.1 -
My husband and I are both working today...so we exchanged non-food, non-flower gifts then went to the gym and had protein shakes together before work.2

Making dinner and special dessert at home for the whole family.0 -
Just another day. We're grilling burgers.
I don't think we've ever gone out for Valentine's day, in over 27 years of togetherness. A couple of weeks ago we were picking up a prescription at Walgreen's and I suggested that we go over to the card section and read each other Valentine cards for free instead of spending money on them.2 -
Just another day, but not sure if we'll go out or not. If we do it will be because hubs and I are both working in the same area of town today and we often go out when that happens.0

It's Taco Tuesday...we're having homemade carnitas4

If you really believe Valentine's day is for kids, I don't think you understand what the holiday actually is for. It's a holiday celebrating love, affection and romance. It was also a feast celebrating St. valentine, although that part has been lost through the years.
Not a Children's holiday.2 -
We went out this past weekend. I had swordfish with arancini and he had scallops with risotto. We had a pecan bread pudding and a warm blueberry cake for dessert. Yum.
Tonight I'll make one of his favorite at-home dinners, seared tuna with sesame seeds and wasabi aioli, spinach, and rice.
His birthday is Friday, so we get to celebrate again! Thinking of steamed lobsters with butter, and cake for dessert!1 -
Had a pre-Vday dinner a one of our favorite restaurants 2 weeks ago. Cost me $500.
Don't like going out on Vday - - too busy and limited to fixed menus.
My SO and I are staying home tonight and I'm preparing our favorite at home meal - - 2 steamed dungeness crabs w/ginger sauce, sourdough bread, corn on the cob and a bottle of Domaine Caneros sparkling wine.
Yum!0 -

Sounds amazing.
But $500 dinner?!?!? Holy crap.1 -
Nothing special, I hate the commercialism of it all. It's a huge con.
But I did get some strawberries for my husband and promptly ate half of them We waited until the children went to bed though!2 -

^True. I was just out for lunch and they were already moving in items for the next holiday (Easter). They don't even let the current holiday get over.0 -
My hubby and I went to Texas de Brazil on Friday to celebrate. He is now out of town for the next month.0

I'm so cheap spending $500 on one meal would give me an anxiety attack.2 -

^Me too! I thought it was outrageous when a co-worker came in yesterday and told me that she & her husband went out to dinner for his birthday and spent $300 (not including drinks and tip). Everything on the menu was a la carte.

I've got today pre-logged and it fits. I need to exercise to get some beer/wine calories.
Mmm that sounds like a Delicious dinner, enjoy! Reading, I paused at the spinach salad with hot bacon dressing but as I began to post only then did I see the rest of the meal described!
.. WOW, all of it sounds lovely, definitely a special dinner for you both!
Happy Valentine's Everyone0 -
Well, I thought my first Home Chef delivery was today so I was going to make the steak. Turns out it's next Tuesday so I just ate tortilla chips and mini kit kats.1

Made creme brûlée tradition for 15 years for the family. Tried to make it low cal one year, and it was a total disaster. So, logged calories and did it right. Also, pork loin, leftover rice and cauliflower.1

On Saturday, my husband and I cycled 100 miles together. We do tend to cycle long distances to celebrate stuff. For example, we rode 100 miles on our wedding day too.
On Sunday, we went sightseeing in the area we were visiting and stopped for lunch at a chocolate café where we shared a basket made of chocolate with 4 different flavours of ice cream.

Stayed in with hubs (of 15 years) and made taco salads. I did eat the delicious cookies that were delivered to my office today too.0

I had the worst food day that I've had in a long time. I still tracked all my food though. Holidays are when I really wish I didn't work in a office because it's just an abundance of garbage. Ugh I feel awful0

Fun day here. Gifts, chocolate and cards for my teenage daughters, tulips and a card for me, card and licorice for spouse, homemade sugar cookies from my bff, and filet mignon, roasted asparagus, mashed potatoes and sautéed mushrooms for dinner....glass of wine now.0
-
Hubby got our girls flowers. I made a delicious dinner of chicken thighs with lemon rosemary potatoes, shredded brussel sprouts and spring greens mix salad, and chocolate silk pie for dessert (I had chocolate protein powder mixed with ff greek yogurt). SO GOOD and I have just enough calories left for a big glass of malbec! My kids were SUPER into Valentine's day this year so we ate on pretty plates and they had sparkling juice in real champagne flutes with their dinner and a day full of giving and receiving cards and candy.0

I benched, squat, and deadlifted. Ate 1600 calories which is 100 cals under my goal at the moment. Nice day.1

I did my exercises, cleaned the house, played mommy and enjoyed a 600 calorie dinner. Got my hubby candy (he doesn't worry about calories) and he bought me a movie haha. He said he would have bought me candy but he didn't want to hurt my weight loss goal. He knows I can't resist chocolate if it's there lol. Such a supportive man!!!!2
