Preplan your meals and don't buy junk food.

You are quite capable of helping yourself - do not buy junk food and plan/prep your meals. I'm on ADD meds too - it happens, but tide the sudden hunger over with a protein shake while you cook dinner...Not eating much during the day means you can have a nice tasty dinner...

I had a coworker on it and she lost very little weight. She ate a big breakfast before taking the meds and a very light lunch and dinner. Basically don't skip eating all day, eat a little.

This likely won't be the popular opinion, but as long as the junk food fits into your daily calories, there is nothing wrong with junk food.

If it doesn't fit into your calories, perhaps pre make some easy snacks that you would be able to grab as quickly as the junk food.

My son's Dr. recommends a high protein breakfast before you take your medication. And then snack on nuts/something midday. Eat as much as possible in the evenings after it wears off. If you are trying to lose weight, eat healthier, lower calorie foods. If you are trying to keep from losing too much like my son, eat whatever sounds good.

Not unpopular, just not a good idea if you watch calories. The side effect of the meds is that it wears off suddenly, and if you have not eaten much all day, you end up being ravenous - which can lead to demolishing an entire big Mac with fries etc.... Not sure how many calories the OP has, but that would wipe out my deficit completely.....
OP - not sure if you experience any other side effects, but eating small snacks often actually helps with all of them....And the hunger doesn't hit you that hard once the meds wear off....

    Till you have bloodwork done.

Save your calories, eat when the pill wears off and just make better choices about what you eat.

These boards frustrate me sometimes... like.. for people with kids, i can understand the difficulty of convincing them to eat when they are not hungry, its hard enough to get kids to eat as it is... but cmon... even if it takes you 2 hours to eat a small sandwich, just eat.. there are days when i just could honestly care no less for food but i still get up and grab something and eat it anyway.. This is actually the third board with this issue in the last 2 months.. people just wanting people to hold their hand the whole way.. No one is going to make you eat, you need to do it yourself.. adulting sucks, but it is what it is.

    ...end rant.

Ever tried to eat on the medication they give you?
I am ADD and cannot tolerate what MDs hand out.

I am a nurse so I work 3 12-13 hr shifts so it's nearly impossible to eat frequent small meals and then the gift shop or tim's is calling my name and as adhd my impulsiveness shows up 100% :-) Not expecting someone to hold my hand just didn't know if someone had some good ideas.

Maybe if you are having impulsiveness issues your dose isn't quite right?

I work 24s. What I do is meal prep before hand, and don't eat at work (outside of what I've brought with me).

I log everything in the morning before I leave, that way everything is already in here and on my spreadsheet for the day. I have a fixed amount of food with me for the shift, and I eat on based on how hungry I am at the time.
