What is the one change you've permanently made?

For those who have been here a while, what is the one fitness or food change you've permanently made in your life? Mine has been that since 2013, I eat one large raw carrot a day. If I don't, I can feel it.

Exercising regularly and cutting back on the alcohol - I still eat whatever I want in moderation.5

Exercise. I never did it before, now I love it. Even in high school we had to do at least 1 push up and 1 pull up to pass gym class. I barely did it then, but could do them in my sleep now.3

I don't actually think I have made a permanent change. I do something different than before for a while, then do something even more different.2

Difficult answer in my case, I detected cycles in my journey of weigth loss.
At the begining I tried more salads, curiously I reduce them drastically without impact in my progress. After 4 months I replace them (as side orders) by alternatives like souercrout and "pico de gallo"
One deifinite change is whole breads most of the time. No more white bread (except for fast food )
One trend I am noticing is that my diet is becoming more "paleo" so reducing a lot the rice and pasta.

I haven't really changed a whole lot, besides portion sizes, but I have made the permanent switch from regular soda, to diet soda.2

Saw working out as fun as oppose to something I have to do4

Lifting weights regularly1

Not to demonize food. There is no bad food, only food that has gone bad.4

Eat more veggies and cook at home more (like all of the time now)3

No more cream and sugar in my morning coffee:-).1

No more dairy, no white sugar, eating breakfast every morning, and water, water, water!4

I too have made one large change that's a lot of little changes:
I plan my meals and shopping and keep a running inventory.
I cook a lot more from scratch.
I refuse to eat food I don't like.
I don't ban any food I like.
I don't worry about eating healthy enough.
I deliberately eat a lot more fat, sugar and salt.
I serve myself appropriate portions.
I don't eat compulsively anymore.
I eat vegetables as part of every meal.
I have a weekly themed dinner rotation plan.
I enjoy food and eating and look forward to every meal.
I eat when I'm pleasantly hungry, instead of eating all the time and/or waiting until I'm half starved.
I weigh myself every day.
I move my body every day.
I drink at least 8 cups of water every day.
I drink my coffee and tea black.
I go to bed at a decent hour.7 -
Drinking more water and making most meals at home.2

Before: Mindless eating.
After: Intentionally balancing energy in and energy out.4 -
Cooking at home and exercising regularly...1

I gave up fruit juice at meal times as it supposedly had too much sugar. It hasn't made me lose weight though and I do think it might have stopped me eating a pudding so I might go back to it.
I also, like you, eat a carrot or half a day. I think it's a good appetite suppressant, high in fiber and all that munching calms me down.1 -
Drinking mainly water instead of soda
Consistency with food and exercise, not perfect but huge change with this since 2013.
Doing what I want to do. -this may sound selfish but I used to be too much of a people pleaser, and took A Lot to change this0 -
Replacing my seven cans of Mtn Dew a day by drinking water when I'm thirsty.2

Not eating directly from the container (things like chips, nuts, snack crackers, etc.) But that was always the case with me and didn't keep me from becoming overweight, so it's really more of a pet peeve than anything, I guess!
Most foods you would normally munch directly from the bag or box are fairly calorie dense (which makes eating measured portions even more important).0 -
Weigh all my food. Crazy to see what an actual serving size is when weighed out.5

I have not been on Mfp long, I just use it to count calories for our program at work. I used to use LOSEIT.
Changes made many years ago? Exercise. Every day. Intense cardio plus strength training. Been doing that regularly for 30+ years. Weigh every single morning. No excuses.
Changes made in the last couple of years? Water. Lots of water.0 -
Counting calories/logging on MFP. And skipping breakfast.0
-
Weighing and logging - changed my life for the better. Its the tool I need to keep me on track - I cant eyeball stuff, I dont have that skill.0
-
I do a thing for a while until I get bored, then I do another thing.
I hope, at least, I have changed my attitude about food.0 -
Exercise, good food choices, all of that. But, the biggest change I have made is to change the way I think about food and exercise. I now exercise and eat a healthy diet so I can live a long happy life. The other stuff, like fitting into a smaller pair of jeans is secondary.

Replacing sugar in my hot beverages with artificial sweeteners. And diet soft drinks instead of the regulars. This way I'm not drinking my way through my daily calorie allotment. Makes more room for food.3
