at the moment i just keep repeating to my self keep my eye on the prize, the prize is to look best i can on my cruise.0

I look at pictures of athletic girls that I want to be... and also... think of my upcoming wedding0
-
Personally I look at my before and after pictures - it clearly shows me where I never want to be again.....
In the end of the day I suppose for me it is "how badly do you want it??" that is all the motivation I need to make every day a good day....
and for me the "it" is a wonderful healthy life - so this is not a diet - it is my new healthy fit lifestyle!!0 -

I don't need one of those. My regular mirror does just fine.0 -

yep this, when i was losing weight. "how do you like your big fat gut?", i would ask myself.
also, visualize yourself in your ideal body....0 -
Reminding yourself in the mirror helps.
Get rid of all the unhealthy junk food and snacks in your home, helps you avoid overeating treats when bored or sitting around.
Get up and go exercise. I find a little exercise (a walk, a jog, shoot some hoops, swim, etc) gets me out of the snacky mood.0 -
Each of us has within us the ability to be what and who we want....you just have to decide. Now go do it!

I am a stubborn person. One day, I decided that I was going to do it. I just changed my eating. No more junk, just healthy foods and I hit the gym every weekday for 45 minutes.
My motivation is to succeed. Every time I weigh in and my weight is down, I'm motivated to keep going.
First weeks are the hardest. Eventually, the change in diet just becomes how you eat.
Good luck!0 -

Yep, every time I get a glimpse of myself in the mirror it just motivates me to keep trying no matter how hard this is.0 -
I get my motivation from all the people who said it couldn't be done after kids! I'm competitive and will be in better shape at 30 than I was at 20!0

Wow thanks guys! What a supportive group!
By the way how can I get my ticker to show up when I write on the message boards like your guys are?0 -
Using some of the sayings of previous posters, like "How badly do you want it?" and "Eyes on the prize!," but also thinking about how all of those little things add up. I really DON'T want to do another push-up, but I just think about how temporary the discomfort is compared to how awesome my arms will look in my wedding dress. I really DO want to eat another piece of chocolate (or seven!), but I think about how tiny that satisfaction will be compared to being able to look back at wedding photos that I'll love (because of the way I look).
When I've had a bad day, in terms of eating or not exercising, I think of my mom loosely quoting "Gone with the Wind," telling me, "Tomorrow's another day, Scarlet."
I hope this helps; I enjoyed the other posts, too!0 -
I take pictures of myself totally relaxed (front, back & sides) and compare them over the weeks to show that there is change. I also compare them to pictures of me at my goal weight (where I was a long time ago). This helps show my current progress and where I need to go still.

I gave myself another hobby, running. Once I got started I always have something else to look forward too. I push myself in the running and it helps me to stay on track in the "eating" department. First I wanted to be able to run for 30 minutes. Then I wanted to run in a 5K. Now I'm working toward my first 1/2 marathon. Then my first Marathon at 40 years old, that one is not until March 2013. But I will be ready! I think if your just trying to lose weight for the sake of losing weight you lose sight of the big picture. But if your working toward more than one goal, I.E. running the next race and dropping that next pound, it helps to keep you on track.0

I look at the girls with short shorts and cute legs and want it without being self conscious0
-
When I first started I took pictures from a magazine of skinny girls and would put those on my treadmill...
but now I keep reminding myself how hard I've worked...and when that doesn't work I make sure to talk to someone about their weight loss or how they've overcome struggles. Plus I dont want to go back to bigger clothes :ohwell:0 -
It's in my pants.
Literally. So f'n tight.0 -
I get used to seeing myself in the mirror and often don't actually see my real size but the size I was a year or two ago. So, then I try to feel the muscle under my fat! I stand up and shake all over and feel the jiggle! I know that may sound silly but it keeps me in check and working toward my goals!0

I make being healthy my ultimate goal- not reaching a certain number on the scale. What is fabulous about that is that every time I make a healthy decision I have achieved my goal. If enough of them are strung together the weight loss happens naturally. Knowing that I am taking care of myself so that I am there for my daughter (now 4 months old) to grow up and have children of their own is a powerful thought. Of course I have times that I make unhealthy decisions- but if you break it down like that you can keep it from snowballing. The worst food-related behavior I have struggled with is bingeing. I used to eat a lot late at night. When I started my hourney June 1st I made a rule not to eat after dinner. This gave me time to digest my food completely and even burn off the calories in a post-dinner walk! When I made exceptions to my rule I had a few bad nights. That resulted in a not-so-great weigh in. Now I have gone back to my rule and have been doing well since. You have to be realistic about your goals. If you deprive yourself you will get bored and that's bad for weight loss. I like to find healthier versions of the foods I love (check out hungrygirl.com for recipes!). If you have a bad meal, a bad day, a bad week or even month- that doesn't have to be the end. Think of your actions singly and know that your journey will be lifelong, so don't sweat the misstakes- it took years to perfect our unhealthy habits. It will take months or years to instill new healthy ones Good luck!0

A combination of things. I have an online inspiration board of exercises, healthy people, motivational quotes, etc. I think of all the strong characters I admire and want to be like. I look in the mirror and stop holding it in. I go through the tub of clothes that no longer fit. I look at all of the health problems people I know have because of weight and diet. I think about when I have kids, how will I tell them to be healthy if I'm not? In short, I surround myself with reminders of why I am doing this. What inspires you?0

Those size 8 Lucky brand jeans hanging in my closet that used to fit perfectly that I can't even get over my thighs... let alone around my waist lol.0

I just think about how hard I've worked and how AMAZING it will be to finally reach my goal. I also use upcoming events to push me to be healthy and exercise until that date!0
-
I'd like to know the answer to that as well. 1 6-pack of motivation please!0

my motivation would have to be old pictures and songs from years ago when I was smaller. My screen saver on my i pod that I use alot when I'm walking is Nicole Scherzinger! Her abs are amazing, I may not make it to that level of rock hard but I'm gonna get it down in the arena..also, everytime I see express having jeans and shorts half off!! I want to fit their pants with a burning passion!!!0
-
The more I lose the more I like the way I look. Every day I think of how fat I let myself get and how unhappy I was about it. I don't want to go back!0

I started from 300pounds, and while I wished I didn't get that big, I know I could have been a lot bigger, just thankful I finally put a stop to the foolishness. I have always been overweight so trying to loose the pounds came with many failed attempts. My motivation originally stemmed from thinking if I give up, then I'll just be wishing I hadn't in the next few months when I'm still at the same weight. my current motivation stems from God. after getting saved, I realized that God requires his best from me, and not taking care of the body he gave me wasn't an option. I thank God for being able to exercise EVERY time I do it. I stopped taking the activity of my limbs for granted, and thanking him because I know many people are not able.0
