Realize that it's not you and that chronic stress, not enough sleep, not enough of the right nutrients (like fresh fruit and vegetables) and issues with the following body systems will keep you from losing weight.- Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Adrenocortical (HPA) axis
- Sympatho-Adrenomedullary System (SAS)
- Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Gonadal (HPG) axis
- Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Thyroid (HPT) axis
- Neuro-Endocrine-Immune (NEI) system
- Glucose-Insulin System (GIS)

While thyroid and adrenal glandulars are relatively safe - DO NOT be tempted to take anything that messes with your Androstenedione production.
Recommend that you check with a doctor to make sure that your heart is okay and that your blood sugar is not impacted by whatever it is you are currently doing.
I sort of glided into paleo - low carb / low sugar, high protein / high fat and it worked for me.
You can friend me if you want. Good luck.-1 -
How do you know your metabolism is low? And since I just turned 40 don't blame it on age. There are plenty of us here who have been able to lose and age is typically not a factor.3

Please don't go messing with anything on your own. "Natural" websites and remedies can honestly do way more harm than you might think. And restrictive or eliminative diets *aren't* a requirement in order to lose weight.
Have you had your thyroid function tested by a medical doctor recently? If not, I would highly recommend that as your first step.
For comparison, I'm 60+ post-menopausal female, have an underactive thyroid (Hashimoto's Disease) and I lost 75 lbs two years ago and reached my goal weight within a year.
My 'secret?' I tracked my caloric intake, made better choices, ate a bit less of the foods I love and added walking to my daily routine.
And never once did I feel either hungry or deprived.5 -

You don't know anything about the OP, this could be much more harmful than good.
OP, I'm with the others wondering if you have actually been diagnosed by your doctor with any conditions which may make weight loss challenging. If yes, then work with him, or better yet a registered dietician. If no, then it may be worth checking into.
For what it's worth, I used to think my metabolism was slow, turned out that I just didn't move around as much as I thought. When I work out regularly, I can consume 1600 calories and still lose 2lb/week. If I don't work out, I need to be eating around 1200 cals to lose. The hardest part, was taking a good look at what I was actually doing.
My best suggestion would be to do some reading to use this app the way it is intended. I would start here:

what makes you think you've got a slow metabolism?1

Advice
- Plug your stats into MFP
- Set a sensible rate of loss - You could probably manage 2lb per week for a while but will need to reduce at you get closer to ideal weight
- Weigh all your food and log it
- Hit your calories as often as possible
- Exercise if you enjoy it
- Eat the foods you enjoy, don;t exclude anything you like, just learn to build those foods into your weekly calories
- Take your time, don't rush - slow and steady seems the best way

I'm 42...
Put your stats into MFP along with your stated rate of loss goal...you will get a calorie target...eat and log (as accurately as possible) to hit that target. Do some exercise on a regular basis...you will get to eat more then.0 -
Please ignore this. OP... quite dangerous information. This poster knows nothing about you and is not a qualified doctor...Check out these websites:

I really feel strongly that this is bad advice because we know nothing about Jeremy (the OP). We also are not his doctors and should not be making any type of diagnosis.
Also, paleo, low carb, low sugar, high protein, or any other diet type(s), is not magic. Eating at a calorie deficit is required to lose weight. If you are losing weight without a calorie deficit, it's time for a doctor's visit because then something is seriously wrong.
Jeremy, I encourage you to follow the advice given in other responses to plug your stats into MFP, or some other weight loss app, and start eating at a calorie deficit. Just make small changes at a time.
As for metabolism slow down-I'm 55, and for years I thought I could not lose weight because my metabolism was slowing down, but it turned out to be....ahem ....I was eating more than I realized! In fact, I was eating enough to gain 30 pounds in five years. That's a lot of food.
I'm rooting for you, Jeremy! You can lose the weight!
