Weight watchers points plus

This week I'm going to do the weight watchers points plus-I've had success in the past and have the old books-anyone else having success with it? any tips

    This is a calorie counting site so you may not find much anecdotal experience here other than those no longer using WW. I believe WW has their own community forums, perhaps you'll get more useful feedback there?

    Weight watchers pretty much is calorie counting by my understanding, except you pay for it. Points are just roughly modified calorie amounts...100 calories for a medium apple, or weight watchers calls it 1 point.

    I've done WW in the past and liked it then, but put all the weight back on. What I don't like about it now is that looking back, their online calculator gave me a magic number to be my points for a day. It didn't really take into consideration how many points I needed to maintain my weight at that stage. That's important information- I think ww put me on a pints amount that was too low.

    Sure I lost weight, but it wasn't maintainable. I'm having more success now cutting 10% from my TDEE. I found my TDEE by trial and error, incidentally much more than any online calculator gives me.

    Respectfully, you don't need WW. Count calories here, work out your maintenance (TDEE), then reduce your intake a little bit for slow weight loss. Jump back up to maintenance from time to time in between calorie cut periods for a maintainable approach

    I think the points allocation on the new system are really wacky going by people who have made the switch to calorie counting. There are large points values for things that shouldn't really be "punished". So it can end up being very low calorie and unhealthy ironically.

    I just started WW last week. So far, so good. The new point system uses calories, saturated fats, sugar and protein in determining point values. Most fruits & vegetables are 0 points. I find myself making healthier choices and eating less crap.

    I guess that's the problem I'd have with it...fruits and veggies are 0 points, but are definitely not 0 calories or 0 sugar. If you have a slim calorie deficit, a bunch of fruits and veggies could wipe it out every day. I would rather track everything, which makes you more aware or what you are actually eating and gives you practical skills to use for the rest of your life.

    That's an issue that pops up a lot.

    Also lower calorie items having the same points value as something higher calorie with poorer nutrition.
