I guess it would depend how many calories we were talking about, and whether I'd already worked out that day. I wouldn't go crazy trying to outrun the error, but it might encourage me to do a reasonable workout to take the edge off it.6

I move on...
Keep in mind that your calorie target isn't maintenance...it's like a substantial deficit from maintenance and it's likely even if you go over that you're still in a deficit depending on how much over.
Just move on...it's not that big of a deal.
And no, I wouldn't go do some unplanned exercise...that's a good way to develop a pretty *kitten* relationship with both food and fitness.7 -
Just move on, I've normally been down that much in the past week any way.

Log it all and move on. Maybe balance things for the rest of the week but for the most part just start fresh.0

Unless I've already planned for it by eating less in the days leading up to it, I just move on1

One thing I don't do is allow myself to feel guilty.4

It's life
Ignore it then be 100%
Or
Cut back

I don't worry about it, at all - I enjoyed eating / drinking whatever I had. Every few days I use the app on my phone to check my weekly Net Average. If that's at (or close to) Goal, I'm happy. Some days I eat more, some days I eat less, some days I do a lot of exercise, some days I do none. As long as I'm generally eating less than I was and am below my maintenance figure then I'll lose weight, even if it's not as much or as quickly as I'd like.2

I track a weekly deficit, so one high day can usually be balanced out for me. As someone else said, I also plan the high days in my week when I can and eat a little less per day leading up to it.1

^^This. I look more at the week then the day, so I would either plan ahead for it or make up for it. Except yesterday and today I know I'm over, didn't plan for it and am not going to make it up. I need a couple of maintenance days.0 -
if it's early in the day and I've spent all my calories for one day, sometimes I just "borrow" the extra calories from the next day. Maybe not the healthiest thing for me to do, but it helps me stick to my weekly goal.
I do that too. Especially on Fridays, because I sleep in Saturday and Sunday and don't really have breakfast. Easy to borrow those calories.0 -
If it's a one off then don't dwell on it. If it becomes frequent or excessive then it's time to work out why it's happening and how you are going to prevent it.
Personally if I go a bit overboard, I slightly reduce calories the next day or exercise a bit more. BUT I make sure this doesn't affect my life!!2 -
I went over my goal today by 259 calories I acknowledge that I will probably lose less this week as it's not the first time this week (I've been hungry!) probably 0.5lb instead of a lb. Tomorrow I will try and stay within my calories again. I don't get upset about it, I don't tend to compensate by exercising or by eating less as the latter usually gets me into a vicious cycle of eating over calories and then trying to compensate so i don't bother. I'm not in a rush.1

If I still have time, I may do extra physical activity to help offset some of it. If not, then I chaulk it up to a day not on track. Then continue the next day.

I plan ahead for some stuff but if it was an unforeseen thing I just move on and don't dwell. Over the course of a week it usually sorts itself out.0

I either exercise or leave it be.0

Log it and move on.
Most people here including me have been counting for a very long time. Years, everyday. Eating over is BOUND to happen and more than once. All you do is log and move on.2 -
Unless I plan to go over ... I don't go over.
Prelogging helps a lot with that, as does having a plan to include life (and in my case, long distance cycling) events.0 -
High and low days happen occasionally. That is life, so be it.
It's what we do consistently that pays off.1 -
+1 to the idea that the majority of our days contribute to the majority of our progress: Log it and go on.
I plan ahead for known events sometimes by doing a modest cut for a few days beforehand, planning in a bit of extra exercise over a few days ahead, or eating more lightly on the day of an event. The only time I add an extra workout after is if it sounds fun to me to do so, and I pretty much never cut calories on days after - eating is not a sin that requires retribution, and it's easy to get into a restrict & binge cycle that way besides.1 -
I try to do better the next day. One day isn't going to make or break my weight loss, and having an extreme view of "I ate over, I failed today!" always ends up in me shoveling MORE food in my face because "today is ruined anyway and I might as well start over tomorrow." instead of my current attitude of "Oh well, I'm over my calories, but I'm nice and full and I enjoyed that food. We'll call it a day and tomorrow will be better."2

Thank u to everyone of u for ur advice i appreciate it0

Leave it alone, unless it's earlyish in the day and I have lots of energy, in which case I'll ride the exercise bike while watching TV or go for a run if I don't feel too bloated.0
