I have numerous (other than obvious health benefits) but here are a few:
To finally feel confident in a swimsuit
To be the hot ex-girlfriend
What's your why?

If there is a wrong reason, you can list it here. People typically get angry at my reasons, but it's my life, not theirs, and I don't care what's politically correct.4

I didn't realize this post existed in another forum. Sorry for the repeat!0

My why is to stay healthy and to set myself up for success in the future (fending off diseases etc).1
-
Because I found out my mother was talking behind my back about how chunky I'd gotten and it pissed me off!12

Being fat sucks.17

My weight has either caused or exacerbated my poor lower-body circulation. I've already dealt with one lymph edema flare-up that needed multiple courses of antibiotics and home-care nursing visits to treat. If losing weight will help me avoid another one, I need to do this.4

What's the alternative?4

I'll admit it, vanity is a big part. Equally important is improve my current health (reduce pain & inflammation in my arthritic knees) and my future health (reduce blood pressure to stay off medication and to hopefully prevent stroke and other dire medical events). Also, I want to hang around with my grandkids for a long, long, long time to come.9

On a more serious note than my original post, I understand this life is not a dress rehearsal and I no longer want to sit on the sidelines. I want to be an active participant in my life and not miss out on or skip things because I feel fat.11

I'm just so tired of what I see in the mirror. I have IIH (intracranial hypertension) and losing weights helps with the symptoms and can potentially lead to remission. Big fan of remission.6

If I'm being honest...I want to look hot as *kitten*. My whole adult life I've excused myself from really trying to get Lean by believing my body type wouldn't really allow it. Even though I've really wanted it.
Screw that noise. I'm doing it.
Also being at a low bodyfat percentage really helps with athletic performance, which I care about a lot more now that I'm cycling seriously.7 -
I'm following the Blood sugar diet. Why:-
- Get my Blood sugar down and get off meds, been T2D for over 5 years, and it's been getting progressively worse
- To look better, been lifting weights for 4 or 5 months but diet is key to actually seeing them!
- Get energy levels up
- To reduce Wieght/BMI for the health benefits

Mostly vanity; I want to be the hottie walking around the lake/pool, even if I am in my late 30's.
I also want to watch my grandchildren grow old, and I don't even have any yet...not even close.
I really want to be a runner. I'm not starting C25K yet, but it's because I want to lose a few more pounds before I add the extra stress on my already whimpy knees, AND I have a 4 year old. The 11 year old does just fine, but neither one will go out if it's too cold, and I'd rather not fight it.
Summer 2017 is gonna be MY summer!5 -
My serious reason; less chance of breast cancer recurrence. Guilty reason; I love clothes and looking fashionable! Yes even though I'm almost 50! Clothes suck when you're fat.
Oh, and I am also tired of my feet and hips hurting from my fatness.

So I could inspire others like others inspired me.
I could look good in every picture taken of me.
I could wear clothes that my sisters couldn't fit in. (sounds a little low, but I'm the youngest of the two and I wear one size smaller than them)
And of course, confidence is key. ;P2 -

I love all these reasons. Congratulations on being a cancer survivor! My feet and knees hurt so I really understand that comment.

Here's my why: I was in an abusive relationship and left him when my baby was 10 months old. The abuse still happened (emotional and mental) and he had me so convinced I was fat at 130 pounds after having my baby. I've since moved on, I have a beautiful family of three children (7 year old, 6 year old stepson, 11 month old daughter) and my amazing husband. My why is my kids. I want to be able to run and play with them. I can't when I feel like a bag of poop.4

I want to be more attractive and sexy. I know that's very vain but hey, why not lol.3

My husband has been complaining of my snoring. I was googling remedies and losing weight came up. I wondered if maybe I had put in a bit of extra weight. Went in the scales this morning and I'm 18 kilos above my healthy weight.
So my why's... get to a healthy weight (lower risk of disease, energy for my son, etc)
Stop snoring.
Refusal to go up a size in my work uniform.3 -
I've already lost more than 34lbs. At my heaviest I was a UK size 18. I just wanted to wear pretty dresses, and have clothes just like all the other girls . I'd been this way since I was 9 and having that extra weight made me much more shy. I was tired of feeling, so paranoid that everyone was looking at me. I just wanted to feel beautiful in my own skin, and to be able to pick a dress or a shirt from a rack and not worry if they'd have it my size.
Khole Kardashian's "Looking good is the best revenge" is my new mantra. It may sound awful, but I want to look hot and accidentally bump into a certain boy.6 -
Oh this question is something I remind myself of every day. I want to be video vixen HOT. I have been feeling unappreciated lately my husband has been kinda lacking in the attention department. I just want to step my game up and be so darn sexy looking. I don't just want to feel like a mom but a sexy mom. I also want to be able to wear langerie with confidence and shop for clothes without being mad things don't fit. The new me with be smoking hot, that is my why. By the time I'm done folks will be like "Thats your wife?!" And my friends and family won't recognize me.6

In no particular order...
To look great. To feel great. To feel confident. To BE strong. To be a role model to my daughters. To be healthy. To be self sufficient. To be able to push past my limits. To rock a bikini (even if I rarely do). To look like an amazon warrior. To make thugs on the street think twice about messing with me. To know I have the power to defend myself, or run like hell. To show others that it IS possible to be over 40,with kids, and a full time job, and still have abs and muscles.
To like what I see in the mirror, even if I'm the only one who ever really sees it.3 -
To feel better, look better, and live longer for my son2
-
1) To be more confident.
2) Lower my thyroxine medication.
3) Improve symptoms of PCOS.
4) To look good naked and not be ashamed or embarrassed of my body.2 -
I love everybody's responses. I thinks it's awesome to read how its different for each of us and we all have our own motivation. Keep it up friends!0

Other than the obvious health benefits of losing weight, I want to be confident in my own skin. I want to be able to run a mile without feeling like I'm about to keel over. I want to be able to run around with my future children. I want to go into a store and if I see something I would love to wear, not have to worry about not finding it in my size.2
-
I'm shallow. It's the clothes. I hate not fitting into cute clothes, I have excellent taste lol and it's a shame to let that go to waste. Also I want to start taking ballet classes again, and I know that at my current weight and fitness level I'm not ready.2
-
I too like ALL these answers. I want to wear an awesome suede skirt that lives in the very back of my closet, one of the few "skinny clothes" I've saved. I figured, when I get to my goal weight and feel amazing, I'm buying myself new clothes. But that suede skirt... I really want to wear it.

My job requires me to be fit, and to be a good example to others when it comes to fitness and determination. To be a good leader, I must be a good example.2

Youthfulness.
Being healthy and fit keeps me feeling young1
