No I'm not talking about painful corsets!!

Any suggestions on Waist Trainer brands that are good to wear while working out? Something that is going to make me sweat...?

If what you mean by that is some kind of garment that will focus weight loss on your torso, there is no such thing.

I can't imagine why, but if all you want to do is sweat more (which only results in water weight loss, which weight returns as soon as you rehydrate) they call them "sweats" for a reason.

I use one and love it! I use it mainly for back support. They do a great job for lower back support. Amazon.

You weren't fooled. They were. You wisely sought advice first instead of falling for the hype.

In the long run, it's better to rely on your own muscles, rather than weaken them by relying on external support.

I wondered about that, unless you have back problems, wouldn't it be better to develop your own muscles?

I think so. I mean, there are obviously exceptions, such as if an orthopedist directs you to wear something for support, or you play a sport you really don't want/can't stop and you use a support to protect you while an injury heals, but for the most part I think you should rely on your own muscles, so they get stronger, and if there's some exercise or movement that you feel you need support for, put it off while you heal or while you build up your muscles through less challenging exercises, lower weights, etc.

I see they even have waist trainers for the 240 pounders. I wonder if they are made from kevlar with ratcheting tie downs. That's about the only thing that would have slimmed my waist when I was 240 :D

How is your back going to get stronger if you keep using a support for it?

I know this is about waist trainers (which are a complete waste of money) but this is in response to your comment on back supports.
Some people wouldn't be able to do anything without a back support. I have a really sore back sometimes because I've got hypermobility and my hips don't sit right. I only wear a support if I'm doing a lot of walking (disney or something) but it hurts when I do the dishes or hang up the washing. My back isn't that bad compared to others and I can only imagine how much they'd need that to elevate the pain enough so they can do something active. Yes it's not ideal for building muscle to support your back but when the alternative is lie in bed in bed in pain then it's good enough to get some exercise in, even if just for your cardiovascular health. You don't know why that lady wears a support whilst she's exercising and how bad her symptoms are or if it was recommended by her doctor.

When I was 240lbs, a decent corset could do mindblowing things for my silhouette.

To be fair though, those aren't a bit of elastic, those are generally real deal steel boned corsets. So akin to the kevlar and ratcheting tie downs!

You're an exception, not the rule. Most people, even those with what they think is a weak back, (usually an overall weak core because of modern life) shouldn't be using a back support because it defeats the purpose of exercising to strengthen those muscles.

The best waist trainer is a calorie deficit (and regular exercise if possible.)
