Sudden weight gain after weeks

Hi.. I started working out with a PT for three weight training sessions per week, added on another two hours of cardio. I'm eating well, small regular meals throughout the day.
For the first two weeks the scales were gradually showing a weight drop (start of 71kg to around 69.5kg) and I was pleased with this! Though I had expected to gain weight with muscle mass, on taking measurements I was slowly losing some inches from my waist, stomach etc.
But then I had a bad few days at the end of last week for diet.. I was celebrating finishing exams and drank a lot of alcohol, and let the diet go a little. This week not only have the scales jumped back up another 1.5kg, but also I feel bigger in my clothes. Maybe it's just water weight.. but, should I be seeing such a dramatic change after just a few days?

Yes, it's just water weight, as long as you didn't eat 10,500+ calories over maintenance. Give it a few days and it should drop back off.
Also if you're in a calorie deficit you aren't going to gain muscle.1 -
Water weight. When I do things like that I always prepare myself mentally for a gain on the scale, or remember that I'm not going to look as lean for a week. Or I just don't weigh myself and make sure I'm logging accurately.1

Is there anything I can do to try keep the water weight off? Feel like my skirts about to burst today, don't know how long this will last..0

Drink more water and eat fewer carbs. It will go away within the week. Just stick to your calorie goal.0

When I drink, I lose an insane amount of weight the next morning. Then I weigh 5+lbs for the next 2-3 days. Then it all balances out again. Stick with your program and it should go back to normal soon!0

In addition to the above, consider where you are in your menstrual cycle. That alone can wreak havoc on the scale.1
