I started drinking slim fast I was wondering if it helped anybody

I have a really hard time with my weight so i just started slim fast has it help anybody whit the meal replacements shakes

    It helps but it's not a complete meal replacement so you may initially lose but possibly gain it back afterwards! If you are interested in meal replacements there are so many better things out there! I've tried everything and finally just settled on one of them after extensive research on it.

    It's useful for Intermittent Fasting. And the High Protein variety does double duty as a recovety beverage.

    Not quite the same, but I use protein shakes that are about 120 calories apiece to boost my protein if I plan on eating something that doesn't have a lot of protein (after working it into my calories) because I've found that protein keeps me from being hungry. I have also used them to keep me from being too hungry if I am saving calories for an event later in the evening. I find it hard to use those sorts of things as a true meal replacement, but that's just me. I would definitely check to see how much sugar they have. And protein shakes aren't exactly the same as meal replacement foods, but there's a huge variety of both. I don't like either as a real meal replacement, but YMMV.

    I keep a protein shake on hand for backup. If I'm out of time and can't meal prep I will grab and go. I agree with the other posters about it's all about creating a deficit and the other comment of it doesn't teach you to eat right.

    If you're looking to lose a lb or two to fit in a dress, might be worth a shot?

    Be sure to read the ingredients. There is very little "food" to replace a meal. There are 4-5 kinds of sugar, natural and artificial, several kinds of oil, and a bunch of unpronounceable chemicals. It may be low cal and somewhat filling, but so is a great big mixed salad with with a few ounces of grilled chicken-- and it's all real food!
    Plus, it's incredibly expensive.
    Just sayin'.

    Food is mainly made up of fats, carbs and protein. What you described sounds exactly like food.

    I never did the fast food thing, but I'd eat whatever was on hand at work or grab a muffin for breakfast, even knowing they were bad choices that wouldn't be satiating for me.     I've never used a meal replacement shake. I've tried protein shakes or bars in the past for breakfast. I would recommend eating real food that will be more filling and mentally satisfying. Something about drinking my calories isn't as satisfying as eating for me. I also agree with some of the posters above that you should try and eat real food in the beginning at least so you can learn the correct portion sizes and which foods are more filling. I think that these shakes can be good for someone on the go here and there. However using them everyday doesn't seem like a long term solution.

    They're useful mainly as a replacement to, solid foods when; having oral surgery & a great emergency/nonperishable meal if, you're ever in; a natural disaster & don't have, access to; enough food!

    I drank them after, getting my; wisdom teeth removed & for added variety, I even; ate baby food! I stocked up, on them & soup cans before; Hurricane Sandy!

    I tried them and also a different protein shake and both of them made me seriously constipated. It probably doesnt do most people that way but I just cant drink them for that reason. I do better with just almond milk, fruit and cottage cheese as a shake. Just FYI.

    I have a protein shake or bar sometimes for lunch. If you're eating something it's still a meal, if you have a hard time staying in your calories consider skipping a meal altogether

    The only thing required to lose weight is a calorie deficit, and that can be done with real food instead of Slimfast shakes. In fact, the word "Slimfast" is just a silly sales gimmick to get people to buy their product.

    The shakes will work only if you stay in a calorie deficit, so why use the shakes at all? Just plan out your meals, weigh your food, log everything you eat, stay in a calorie deficit and you will lose weight.

    I did a medically supervised ultra low calorie liquid diet back in 1988. I gained it all back within a few months. Same with every other "magic solution" I've tried. I'll occasionally have a smoothie or a protein bar instead of a meal if I'm running late, but using something like Slimfast as a regular meal replacement isn't teaching you anything about portion control, food choices, or CICO.

    I haven't tried slim fast, but I've tried other brands of protein shakes and bars. They are handy in the morning after I've used my bike for an hour and don't have time when i'm travelling to work for a sit-down breakfast.

    That stuff is not really better than over-processed junk food.

    Make some vegetable soup with chili. You can have decent quantities and it's much better for you.

    I had a slim fast shake once and it was not very nice and did not even keep me full. Eat some proper food. :)

    I've been on SlimFast since March 6th. So far I've lost 8lbs. I'm planning on phasing out of it the last day of April....but I will continue controlling my calorie intake AND I think I'm going to continue with one shake a day for breakfast.

    i know someone drinking it she is losing weight each week but
    she really could do the same just cutting down a little of her normal food.
    she has heard of mfp but torture seems to be easier and more expensive.

    Some people will drink a protein shake for breakfast instead of eating. I don't think I have ever heard anyone call that torture. Is there a whole lot of difference than if someone chose to drink a Slimfast or some other meal replacement?

    OP...on occasion I will buy a few shakes such as Slimfast. I don't like to eat until at least after 10 in the morning. If I know that I am not having access to food at that time I will drink a shake. If I have time I make my own shake if not then I will grab a premade bottle out of the frig.

    I personally couldn't replace 2 meals with Slimfast on a regular basis but I could probably replace my breakfast with one. Each person is different so it might work for you. You can always try for a few days and see how it goes. If it doesn't work then you can always change.

    As far as cost goes...some protein powders get fairly expensive and that is why I don't use it on a regular basis. How you spend your money however is your choice.

    Good luck with whatever you decide to do. Remember...there is no harm in trying it...you can always do something different if it doesn't work. I certainly have tried a lot of different things before I have finally settled in to what works for me (at least for now).

    My nutritionist recommend Premier Protien for me. You can get it at Walmart. I get the carmel flavor, it's really good and has 30 grams of protien in it , which keeps me full for hours.

    My aunt loves it and has lost weight on it but for me. I just could not give up solid food. I just don't like wasting the calories
