Success stories from those who lost the weight in their 30's?

I know this is super silly, but I just turned 30 last month and am mourning not having lost the weight in my 20's. I kept saying "by the time I turn 30, I will definitely be in shape." Now, I'm not in shape and I am wavering between "Let's do this!" and "You'll never look as good as you would have in your 20's..." I know this is a total lie, but I need to hear from those who've done it!

I am not a full success story as yet, but what you say about having thought, 'by the time I'm 30, I will definitely be in shape'. That was me too. At 23 I was going to lose the 5 and a half stone and be fit and healthy. Then all of a sudden I was 30, having done nothing! (so dangerous saying, 'well I still have 7 years....6 years.....3 years....oops')
nearly 31 now and MFP has really helped me to stay on track the past 80 odd days (not had guilt fest or what I would call a period of uncontrolled binge eating) and I have never felt better!
stick with the 'Let's do this!' mindset! it is awesome!
as for motivation, I love the threads on these forums and have found the plank challenge interesting!7 -
I was 33 when I started 80ish lbs ago. It's totally doable. Dont' let people scare you with stories of "their metabolism never being the same after x age"14

I'm 32 and lost 20 lbs in 2017 alone. It's not any harder than it was before I crossed the mystical 30's threshold.16

I started when I was 38 and lost 40 Lbs...most of my weight gain happened in my 30s. I'm 42 now and I'm healthier and more physically fit than when I was in my 20s and just as lean as I was back then.20

I actually think I'm in better shape now than I was in my 20's. I know I have more muscle! I had gained weight through "simply life" happening - babies, rough c-sections, depression for years and divorce. I lost about 50 lbs in my 30's. I just ate what I knew was good for me - mostly whole foods and lean proteins and exercised and poof! No magic shakes, pills or whatever. *That being said everyone is different, so do what works best for you! You Can Do It!14

Started at age 35. Lost 80lbs. Got as low as 7% body fat down from 30ish % when I started by the age 38. Don't beat yourself up. You got this.12

I am 39 and have lost a total of 137 pounds in less than a year and I am not done yet. You can absolutely do this.17

I'm 34 and I'm in the best shape I've ever been in my life! Age is just a number, what matters is that want to make a change and are willling to engage some patience to go along with it. I'm far from a success, I have many fitness goals in mind. I have abandoned the number on the scale (ok maybe not completely) but Im focusing on strength goals. I'm hoping to break out a sick set of abs this year but if it doesn't happen I'm okay with that.7

Pics or it didn't happen huh. This was this past Feb. Those are my two boys, 14 and 6. You can also see my youngest, she is going to be 5. My oldest constantly comments on my 'brolickness'. I'm guessing he's talking about my muscle gains lol. It's doable at any age at any stage in your life. It's just takes a little time.

I got into the best shape of my life at 35. It's totally doable. I'm now 39 trying to get back to that shape... not gonna lie it's tougher this time around but still possible3

39 and I have lost 80lbs and going to lose 40-50lbs more....hopefully by 40.7

I'm 34 and I'm not yet a success story but I just lost 12lbs. I started at 175 on January 1st and I'm currently 163lb. I'm hoping to be in the 140's by mid June. I used to say the same thing, I need to lose before my 30's but I didn't have the right mindset to lose the weight. It's now that I'm determined to lose and I'm dedicating the time to learn about proper eating habits and exercising that the weight is slowly coming off. I think if you want it bad enough and you are willing and ready to do the work, you can lose the weight at any age.9

doesn't matter on the age, age long as you eat right and exercise you will be fine, I am doing most of my weight loss now at 39
just exercise and burn more than you eat2 -
I lost 80 pounds on my own in my mid-30's.
Now I'm in my early 40's in the best shape of my life and the smallest I've ever been as an adult. I've kept all of the weight off and have stayed in my range since with no issues.
Staying consistent, having patience and focusing on my measurements/losing inches and fitness not so much the scale worked for me.

I'm 39 and lost 50 pounds over a year ago. Definitely the best shape of my life... I can run for HOURS, kickbox, Zumba, you name it! Most 20 something's would be hard pressed to keep up with most of us oldies but goodies on this site! LOLL!!4 -

Thanks!!! It's taken me a long time to learn to love my legs. Now I definitely give them the time and attention they deserve... now if only my glutes would fall into line! In your 20s you seem to think you can conquer the world, until you're left in the dust by one of us lol. I can outrun any of my kids and their friends. My husband doesn't even try to keep up.5 -

When I was in my 30's, I lost about 70 pounds on the Atkins diet. My motivation was pretty basic.... wanting to be sexually attractive. I was not done losing weight there, either, but I got into a car accident and fractured some ribs. The intense pain kept me from doing pretty much anything other than sitting in a chair or lying in bed. Coupled with the overwhelming desire for "comfort food", I slingshotted back to my starting weight and then some, and got discouraged. I decided just to drop back to the starting weight and be happy there. Now I'm in my mid 40's, and tired of being unfit. I'm down 21 pounds as of this morning (41 days into the effort), and heading for another 48 at least. We can do this. Age is not a barrier, just another challenge to conquer.8 -
I started losing weight just before 30, have continued it (will be 31 in May) and can honestly say I'm in the best shape I've ever been, and I haven't even hit my goals yet.4

I started with 234 and now I'm slowly approaching 200 and I'm 36. I think that I finally found my rhythm. I used to be full of excuses, then last Black Friday I went to buy new clothes and my size 40 pants were getting extremely tight. Today I'm wearing size 38 comfortably. My goal is 165 and I know now that with hard work I'll get there, safe and slowly. Good luck to you...0
