Ranting and Offending - A packaged Deal

Friends:
This is a support site. It is a site to provide helpful insight into a healthier future.
We are here to pick one another up when we are down, provide saged advice, share success stories, and act as a support group among many positive side effects.
Belittling others for their choices, inane rants about nothing, condescending attitudes about others, immature rants about others/nothing in general is not considered helpful. We are not here to be thorns in anyones side but we are here to empower ourselves and others.
Now, if you rant constructively about a failure of your own; in most cases this is acceptable as long as you are willing to pick up the pieces and move ahead. Other will give you the moral support but in the end you have to make the choice.
So, I plead of you to think before submitting a topic and say to yourself is this self-serving or will this actually help if it is in the offensive or ranting category. If it is in the rant because of self inflicted miscomings then you have to say am I ranting for a sounding board or am I doing this to get advice or support. In other words see the value in your posts before hitting that submit button.
I wish you all the best and I am here to support you and I look for the same support. Like the songs goes "Lean on me when you're not strong and I'll be your friend, for there may come a time that I will need somebody to lean on"

I read a lot of blogs. Ranting helps purge stress. I do NOT like it when someone says, There is no way you burned those calories or other negitve comments. I delete ones like that. This is not my facebook. This is weight and health related and I don't need nay sayers. I am on a mission and negative comments hurt my motivation. I will give only positive support to others no matter my own ideas. Not every one is the same and the same game plan is not going to work for all. Thanks for this post came just in time.0

Nope just a bit of advice after the situation a few days ago that resulted in two posts being locked and deleted and fur flying that could have been avoided. A hand reaching out to help knowing that at times it may get bit. :frown:0 -
unfortunately i think "ranting" is subjective. regardless of how the user feels at time of posting, it will almost inevatably infuriate, offend, upset, belittle, or hurt someone who interprets it in a different way to the intended - which is almost always the exact opposite of what the OP wants. .
which is sad... :0(0 -

You've got singing in you today alright!!!
I try to be constructive if someone has asked me to view their diary - if it's full of processed junk I'm not going to tell them it's a good balanced diet. If that offends then perhaps the person needs to ask themselves why they asked if they didn't want the truth. But yes, there's no need to be offensive with it.
....I do like a good rant sometimes though, I'm a lone worker and you should hear what i shout at my fax machine sometimes, lol...!!0 -

Well said!!! Its getting really bad when people don't want to reply to posts because of the backlash it might have. The great thing about being an individual is just that and we all have our own thoughts and opinions. People really need to stop and remember this. But hey Misery likes company........I'm just not going for a visit lol.0

I had him locked up on my page !!! LOL0 -
I don't mind if someone needs to rant now and then. If I don't like what they say I move on.
I agree that uplifting posts may be more helpful....most of the time. Sometimes it feels good to get something "off your chest" though.
Most people are a mixed bag and I would be surprised if this site didn't reflect that.0 -

I don't quite understand the gist of this.
Derogatory rants are obvious and usually removed, I think. But otherwise it sounds like you include anyone who happens to say anything negative.
I know that I probably speak for quite a few people when I say that sometimes negativity is warranted. If someone posts something that is obviously wrong or asks for feedback, you aren't gonna get a pat on the back and a 'job well done!'
Hell, I've had people tell me I quoted wrong information or received negative feedback. Take it in stride and take corrective measures.0 -

Yes, the offensive posts are "eventually locked and deleted" but that could have been easily avoided. I worked my life to be part of the solution and not part of the problem.
I can't change others but I can provide valuable support that hopefully will result in others changing themselves which includes attitude and health. Their choice along but i am here to encourage them along the way.0
