I attempted to log on last night: down for maintenance.
I attempted to log on this morning: down for maintenance.
I tried again about an hour later, and finally got into my dialy log.
Just NOW??? EVERYTHING in my daily log for the past 2 days (it's only my 3rd day) is GONE!
Very frustrated, and just about to dump this whole thing unless someone has an idea on how I can retrieve the past two days AND prevent all this from happening again!

I rarely have problems with the site. It was down for maintenance this morning, maybe 30 mins.9

This isn't a usual thing. So I wouldn't quit just yet. All websites have to do maintenance, it is the only way to add new features or fix issues. Maybe check later and see if those days are still missing and if they are you might want to report that so they can fix it.8

Sorry you're having problems. I noticed the site was down--it happens now and again. I've never lost data though. It's frustrating to lose 2 days worth of your diary, but losing weight takes a long time, so it's just a blip on your screen. Take a deep breath, calm down and start over. You'll be glad you did. Patience and consistency are keys to success, so this will be good practice. Good luck.9

In my two months of logging, I've only found the site down twice for maintenance, and never lost a thing. I'm sorry you are frustrated. This is an extremely supportive and valuable site to me. The database is wonderful, and people are always ready to answer questions.7

Also always take screenshots so, that you've a record if/when this; occurs & thus don't entirely, lose your; data!2

It told me that a few times today, but it's not a normal occurrence.2

Also, if your logging on your phone app and expect to see it on your desktop it doesn't always works that way. You may have logged it on your phone but the phone may not have connected instantly and is waiting for a better connection to update. Not saying that's what happen to you but things like this happen.3

Hey Lindie, this is very unusual, I only experienced the issues you're having today for a little bit, I just walked away and came to it later and it was fine. I'm sure they've fixed the issue.1

I've also noticed some sync/down issues with the site over the last two days. I've noticed that if you refresh a couple times you can usually get the request through. Based on the symptoms I'd guess they were having some issues with load-balancing or server clustering. Check back later to see if you got your last two days back, if it is a problem with clustering and you just started, your stuff may not have gotten sync'd properly, but could be recoverable.
Overall I agree with the sentiments posted above, the site is usually very stable (and I'm Network/Cloud Engineer, so I'm usually very critical), you just had bad luck with your start time, don't give up on it.2 -
Maybe you should work on your patience a bit.16

I have been on this site for years, and this morning was the ONLY time I have experienced it being down. This is a great site you should give a chance.4

Mine was down for maintenance for a LONG time yesterday, and also this morning. Often I log in and cannot access my page or diary but can access the forums. All this is very frequent. I don't have answers. I wish I did.1

This is not unusual. Under Armour bought MFP awhile ago. Since then, there have been a lot of issues. I've been on MFP for almost 4 years. Since UA has been 'in control' - there's been problems. I've logged tickets multiple times with Tech Support. They are not helpful. All I can say is - it's free - therefore I use it.2

Today was the first time in over a month I had issues1

Mine was down too...so I used that as an excuse not to log the big ol' lemon cookie I ate late last night.7

You sound like you're looking for just about any reason to quit. If you don't want to do it, then don't.
If you do, then just don't worry about the last few days. The point is if you're compliant with your calorie goal or not, and the site is a tool to help you do that. Just move forward and log from now on.20 -
Lol... when I discovered they were down for maintenance this morning, I fully expected to come back & find my news feed not working properly for 6 months, or some other major problem caused by something they "fixed" (hint:
it's happened before!). It's a thing on MFP... you'll grow to love it (or at least stop pulling your hair out when it happens )0 -
The website or you phone app? This might be related to your operating system updating. I have experienced no issues with MFP.1

It's free, so I deserve what I get. The site unstable from time to time - as is the app. Need to get used to it or don't use it.3

OK, bye!4

A very rare occurrence.
Patience. Don't give up. You know what you have done for 3 days, if you stayed within your goals, no big deal. Carry on from here.
I have never looked back at my previous days food, or exercise. Been on here since 12/26/16 and I am losing steadily.
It will be ok, you'll see.1 -
Thank you, everyone (almost everyone) for your suggestions and info re this site. Yes, it is free, but that doesn't mean I should lose data and as far as maintenance goes, ita, but it would be nice to know somehow that it wasn't just an errant message I received when trying to log onto my food diary, esp when other parts of this site were still working. I can't begin to think how frustrating it would be to spend a month on here tracking on a food diary only to have it disappear one day...that was my fear. I'm using my computer, which is absolutely up to date and reliable, so I didn't understand why I would be having issues with this site.
I'll try again from today on and see what happens in the next few days; I agree it's a helpful site and all your responses just confirms how active the boards are here and how (mostly) helpful you all are. There's always one who seems to want to be negative, unfortunately.
Thank you again for your helpful responses....I shall persevere!0 -
In response to NEEDTOBEFIT.....obviously we've never met so I don't know how you can form such a fast opinion of my motives. I'm 67 years old and have dieted before, very successfully! Don't presume to know whether it's the site I'm frustrated with OR my diet.
If anything can to persuade me to drop off these boards it's rude comments such as yours, itsthehumitidy and jennifer_471.0 -

Just an FYI... sometimes the tone of a thread is influenced by the tone of the title. Wish you the best whether you choose to continue with MFP of not10 -

Even after the acquisition, MFP still has had control of the forums. What you are noticing (probably) is when they switched base platforms to Vanilla, since the old platform was unable to be maintained.1
