A stationary bike I purchased with birthday money for my 40th. When it's too hot outside to do anything else (which is 4 months out of the year!) I can watch TV and ride my bike.
  • For me it wasmy Garmin forerunner GPS watch. I love it and use it on every run to track distance, time, pace and calories burned.

ETA: Also my kettlebells - best workout around, imo!

BodyBugg... never would have figured why I was only losing 2 out of 4 weeks without it. Now I lose every week.

Whats body bugg.. and where can I get it?

    What's a BodyBugg? I'm from the UK:drinker:

It's the same thing as the Ki Fit in the UK.

    http://www.kiperformance.co.uk/

Basically it tracks your metabolism and activity by using an accelormeter, skin temp, sweat, and stress levels. The BodyMedia fit is the same thing as well, though it has better software.

The same as a BodyMedia Fit in the US with a different distributor... It's called Ki Fit in the UK. An armband which uses several metrics to calculate daily calorie burn.

I know it doesn't totally fit within the question, but for me it's FOOD!
Learning how to grocery shop in a way that facilitates me achieving my goals. Getting away from the frozen food aisle (except for frozen veggies), getting acquainted with the produce section (seriously, I never went much before), reading labels while in the store instead of after consuming a meal, and buying products that go together to form meals instead of buying prepackaged cop-out meals.

But for one major purchase: my yoga mat :flowerforyou:

    1. My HRM, Polar FT4, glad I got the more "simple" one, almost got the complicated model, this one is all one needs.
    2. My smartphone, I use it for multiple things on my walks (I can't run, doctors orders, I do speed walk though) I use it for Endomondo (LOVE it!) and Pandora.

This!! My best tool for eating well is my food co-op membership. I do all of my shopping online and then go pick it up once a week. I rarely even walk through a grocery story with all of its temptations nowdays.

As for exercise equipment, I'd have to say it's a tie between my Asics running shoes and my hula hoop.

    1. Treadmill from Craigslist. I never would go to the gym. And having the treadmill easy to use in the basement is a huge difference maker for me.
    2. Food scale. I now know how much I eat of everything.
    3. HRM. It's really nice to see my progress as the same exercise becomes easier. It helps me know when I need to step it up.

There are more, but those three were the biggest for me. Having a bike to ride, an iPhone, and a GPS app for biking, running shoes, and a couple of books are all great too. All of them have combined for success for me. :)

Good running shows and a sturdy treadmill. Though... the Wii comes in close after those because there are so many "games" to keep you moving -- and sweating!

In the kitchen - a top of the line food scale and numerous measuring dishes.

Zumba for the Wii. I love it! I see that a lot of people put down their shoes, as well...that's my #2. I bought myself a really good pair of New Balance kicks when they were on sale right after Christmas, and they fit perfectly, look good, and motivate me to walk more. :)
