Losing body fat?

Hey guys! I've been struggling recently with losing body fat and keeping my muscle I have and i'm searching for some help. So I have a decent amount of muscle in my lower body and a little in my upper body. I am 20, 5'5.5", 177 lbs and around 31% body fat. I would love some help!! Thanks :)

    How are you measuring your body fat? What are you doing to preserve muscle?

    I measure it by a tape measure and I'm lifting heavy 3 times a week and incorporating protein shakes into my day!

    Progressive heavy lifting, 1 gram protein per pound of body weight daily, and net calorie deficit no greater than -500.
