What are some good smoothies? I'm not getting enough veggies.

    This juicing site has a section where you select the fruits and veggie you have on hand, and it shows you recipes (user submitted) that use your ingredients. It also has a build-your-own juice (I have a Nutribullet, so I use the solids calorie count) where you put in how much of whichever fruits/veg and it suggests other things that will go well with your ingredient. juicerecipes.com

    I make green smoothies all the time packed with veggies (kale, spinach, rainbow chard)

    I think there is a semantics issue happening. Most smoothie recipes seem to include fruit, ice, and some sort of dairy. I think the OP is actually asking for "blended juice" ideas as opposed to a more pure juice, requiring an actual juicer. To the OP--I have never eaten vegetables (I am 48 years old and eat like a toddler). I finally decided it was time to eat better. I bought a Nutribullet and decided that every drink would have some sort of vegetable, and I would have at least one drink per day. In the month I've been blending, I've eaten more fruit (didn't eat much of that either) and vegetables than the previous 48 years combined. Google 'blended juice recipes' for ideas. Surprisingly, I don't mind kale, spinach, or the mixed spinach/kale/greens you can buy in bags. Carrots make a thick, grittier drink, but the flavor is fine. I didn't like beets or romaine very well though. Celery is strong tasting, so I use a little celery in combination with another green veg. The veggie drinks take a bit of getting used to, both in taste and how your digestive tract adjusts to it.

    Full disclosure: I still have no desire to eat a vegetable side dish and still otherwise eat like a toddler.

    PS: I blend the veg with apple, strawberry, watermelon, pineapple, kiwi, blueberries, banana, orange, pretty much any fruit. The sweetness from the fruit, especially strong flavors like orange, really help mask the vegetable taste. A little ginger root goes a long way and adds a nice zing.

    I second all Wd's advice above! However, I do like celery and romaine in my veggie smoothies, and cucumber is nice too. Because I'm trying to limit fruit sugars, I blend in a protein powder instead of fruit (sweetened with stevia.) I like a little ginger root and lemon or sometimes parsley.

    Very awesome. I have the ninja blender so that should work? I have. It used it too much... I've tried making my own veggie drinks by "winging it" and they were gross lol

    1 cup baby spinach
    1/2 cup chopped carrots
    1/4 frozen banana
    1/4 cup frozen pineapple or mango
    1 TB raisins soaked in hot water (optional)
    1 scoop vanilla protein powder
    1/4 tsp each cinnamon and ground ginger
    1 cup liquid of choice - I use half milk and half water
    5 ice cubes

    tastes like carrot cake!
    If you are trying to cut out some sugar replace the banana with 2 thin slices of avocado (both make it really creamy)

    If you like ice cappuccinos! 3 cups baby spinach, 1 cup unsweetened coconut milk, cold coffee (1/4 cup to +++ your taste), 1 tbsp chia seeds, 1 tbsp ground flax seeds, 1/2 scoop protein powder (choc or vanilla), 1/2 scoop iced capucinno protein powder, 2 ice cubes, blend in nutribullet....fabulous, have every morning. About 350 calories of YUM!
