Here a few weeks ago I realized I LOVE taco salads! And I only use maybe a loose quarter cup of meat with 2 cups of lettuce. Today I made a salad with lettuce, tomatoes, a hard boiled egg, and a sprinkling of cheese and salt, with no other dressing. It is AMAZING! I never realized how tasty some of these things are :D

Taco salads are delicious! One of my fave ways to have a salad, for sure.

I also really enjoy caprese salad and anything can be made more delicious with avocado and cheese!

Salsa with or without low fat Greek yogurt (like sour cream) makes a nice low cal taco salad dressing.

I like an Asian Grilled chicken salad. Romaine, snap peas, shredded carrots, unsweetened mandarin orange slices, Newman's Sesame Ginger dressing and a few sliced almonds for crunch.

I have something similar a lot with a chopped up spicy black bean veggie burger, then lettuce, tomato, bell pepper, jalapeno, a little onion, and salsa as dressing, it's one of my favourite salads. A squeeze of lime is great on it too, as is fresh cilantro if you like it.

My favorite go-to salad is a BBQ chicken one I started making several years ago. Family favorite. Start with whatever types of greens you'd like (I use a mix of romaine, iceburg and spinach leaves), whatever veggies (I use carrots, cucumbers, colorful bell peppers, chives, tomatoes and a can of fiesta corn) and top it with a skinless, boneless grilled chicken breast cut into cubes. I then throw a bit of shredded mozzarella cheese on top, drizzle light ranch and bbq sauce on and call it dinner :)

I am planning on a similar salad soon. I want to try barbeque sauce thinned with a little water as dressing for it. Shoot, I could even just used barbequed turkey. I don't like ranch, either, lol. Hmm, I wonder if I could make a pizza salad? Turkey sausage, mozzarella, a little pizza sauce, few pepperonis, might be nasty but could be worth a try, lol. Of course, I'd never give up pizza either :D

I've just gotten good enough at basic cooking skills to really experiment, and I am having a lot of fun with it.

I like taco salads, just use salsa as dressing. Just got to be in the mood for salad lol. I've been doing caprese (fresh mozzarella, roasted peppers, tomatoes and proscuitto) and antipasto. Easy and tasty (I just use red wine vinegar for dressing).

I REALLY wish salads filled me up more though. I make huge bowls of them (usually 400ish calories worth) but I'm never really satisfied unless I get some carbs on the side.

    Greek salad
    Taco salad
    Spicy Boca Chicken salad

I use salsa as well. Mine really fill me up, even a 200 calorie one.

I usually manage to keep mine really low calorie. I can't really afford a lot of calories with my size (5'4" 130lbs)

I only eat 2x a day so it's half my days worth of calories. I probably do big ones like that once a week or so. Otherwise I hear ya:).

I had taco salad for lunch today - lettuce (mixed type), about 100gms of prepared taco meat (you know, the kind where you brown the ground beef, add some water and a packet of taco seasoning and then let it reduce till thick) and then I use sour cream as the dressing - I just love the simplicity of it and its delicious!

(edited to add that I use fat free sour cream at about 20 cals per 2 tablespoons or something like that)

Nonsense. I'm 5'4.5", 140 lbs, 19 years older than you, and my TDEE is 2400+. Your size isn't what makes you calorie allotment small... your low activity is.

Also you're using a lot of suspiciously low entries in your diary, so my guess is that you're eating more than you think (which is totally fine though because you can probably eat a LOT more than that and still lose).

I just use some vinegar with Dijon mustard most of the time. It's tasty and adds maybe 10 calories.

Chopping cilantro, doll and basil in tiny pieces and adding it to a salad with a bit of vinegar or olive oil makes for a great dressing too. Especially if you add bell peppers and cucumber

It's possible. Which in particular did you think were low, just for curiosity? I work a bank job, and don't get a lot of activity.
