Yes it can.
It's hard, but we sometimes get stuck in a vicious circle where we feel down about our weight and this makes eating well and exercising difficult, and this increases the depression, and we then feel even worse about the weight.
But you can break that cycle.
Take some positive steps (like tracking your food, or walking once per day), and get them as a regular pattern in your life, then add more. Soon enough you will be doing lots of positive things and your weight will improve. This will, hopefully go some way towards helping with your anxiety/depression.
Pluy your stats into MFP, weight and track your food, avoid any fad "diets" and your half way there.0 -
It is work but it can so definitely be done. I visit the success boards here and look at the great before and after pics. These are just regular people like us who have struggled along but made it happen. I am on depo, been on antidepressants (a few times) and now take SSRIs in the winter for S.A.D. I started in January with a goal of losing 40 lbs. I've lost 20 so far just through diet. I am now trying to get more active to improve my heart health and tone up as well. I agree with the poster above about the cycle we get in. If getting out of bed is hard, focusing on other changes can seem impossible. Make small changes to start. Hopefully your family is supportive. Making an effort to get moving with your husband and kids will reward you not only with exercise but quality family time that will help you with your mood too. A pre or post supper walk may work now that the weather is getting better. (at least here, I'm not sure where you live
The great thing about MFP is you don't have to "diet" and never eat the food you love, just work it into your daily calories. Don't set your weight loss too aggressively so that you feel you can't enjoy yourself and sustain your lifestyle. Do this for you and you will be so happy that you did.0 -
