Its Friday, I'm tired and I want to go home and drown in pizza

I am on Day 5 here on MFP. Had a fairly decent week. Three nights (M, T, W) I had meetings directly after work and I fared ok. Last night I worked on my taxes. I am heading out of the office in about an hour and all I can think of is "I want a nice hot pizza and a cold beer." Trying to stay far away from carbs and this certainly is the carbs screaming at me. I've got the angel on one shoulder saying "you worked at it all week - keep it up" and the devil on the other shoulder saying "you worked at it all week - reward yourself" Ugh!

Why are you limiting carbs? How many calories do you have left today?
You can lose weight and have pizza and beer. You just have to fit it into your calories. Food shouldn't be about working and rewarding.15 -
We do pizza night most Friday nights...never hampered my progress. This doesn't have to be some painful, miserable thing...it doesn't have to be all or nothing.16

No reason to be afraid of carbs. They certainly aren't the enemy. It's too many calories that will get ya. You might consider what people call "banking" calories. If I know I'm going to eat more on a Friday night, I'll eat maybe a 100 calories less each day during the week so I have extra for Friday. I, and many people here, look at their calories on a weekly basis. With my schedule and activity level varying from day to day, I don't eat the same amounts day to day. It's a useful method so you don't deprive yourself of the things you like because no "diet" really works from deprivation. Also, you still want to be mindful about the extra calories and have the foods you want in moderation.5

This is why people fail on diets. The anti carb fad has it's claws in the American public right now. Tell people that they can't lose weight without cutting carbs. There are legitimate reasons for some people (diabetics) to restrict them, but the general population......not so much.

Also, pizza is a lot more than just carbs...but devil carbs...5 -
No reason you can't have pizza tonight! I plan on having both pizza and cake at some point this weekend Do you intend to spend the rest of your life pizza-less? What a cold, dark place the world would be with no pizza.15

I have 637 calories left. I am trying to stick w/protein and veggies because I am really stuck seesawing between 3-4 lbs up and down. I figured limiting carbs may be the push I needed to get out of the back and forth. I am so tired that I feel my resolve is too weak to stick w/just a slice and a beer.
And I'm not looking at this as being a miserable thing - I'm just very tired. Its usual for me on a Friday to be this tired. I'm hoping some weight loss will change this.2 -
Re: the tiredness - how many calories have you been averaging per day? Not eating enough = tired and hangry for me. I understand not feeling up to testing your resolve on some days, though. Whatever you have tonight, I hope you enjoy it!2

Lol - define "devil carbs"0

If anything it is more likely to be sodium or hormones causing the seesaw but i digress. 637 will gab you a large slice and a light beer. I would hesitate for a second if thats what your craving2

Here's some sassy carbs.

To save calories on pizza - make your own. Choose a dough recipe that has just a little oil, roll the crust thin, ONE meat topping (chicken sausage or turkey pepperoni) will save you a ton of calories & 2% mozzarella. Bake it in a hot oven on a pre-heated pizza stone for crispy crust.
Serve with a nice side salad......I can have pizza every week.
If you have medical reasons for low carb - google low carb pizza "crust" substitutions.5 -
Honey I hear you. I teach junior high and we have not had spring break yet. One more week. I am DYING over here. Have two reasonable size pizza slices and a big salad.4

No I do not intend to live a "pizza-less" life. Working on breaking bad habits, giving up too easily/early, sticking with the program, remembering what my goals/dreams are. Right now I have a dr. appt. on 4/25 - I want to have a good discussion with her and will use these results to support my efforts.3

May I call your attention to this? http://www.digiorno.com/products/thin-crispy
At 310 to 370 calories for half the pizza, Its a heck of a compromise between all-out pizza-fest and, well, not.

Carbs are the current industry boogey man...people seem to be scared shitless of them. Also, a lot of people around here claim to be "addicted" to carbs and frequently bring up foods like pizza where carbs are only one component and often a smaller component compared to dietary fat...but it's the carbs they're addicted to or have issues with.5 -
Since im the Devils advocate....And you have 637 calories..Go have a slice and a beer...But try not to have a half of a pie and a 6 pack... Because then all the hard work you put in this week will go to waste.

You sound like your trying to convince yourself to go binge..
Hang tough, dont listen to the voices that tell you its ok to binge, you are in control.10 -
