What do you avoid?

What foods have you learned to avoid since you started tracking on MFP? For me it's been potatoes and cheese. I love both those in just about any form I can get them, but such small portions of either just gobble up my daily calories. So, now I make a conscious choice not to eat them. Went to Bubba's yesterday and had the fish and chips, but substituted steamed broccoli for the chips. It was still a good meal and I didn't blow all my calories for the day just on lunch.

I don't really avoid anything, I just fit it in my calorie goal. Different from you I find that baked potatoes fill me up, and just a little cheese grated over them makes them even tastier. Of course my daily calories are 1900 not including the exercise calories. Even at the minimum recommended before exercise calories for a man (1500) it would not be difficult to fit in a potato. Usually the issue is the stuff put on them like piles of butter or sour cream or cheese. I don't often eat fried potatoes or french fries because of the calories, but when I do I plan for it. I don't avoid them.1

None. I may have made some changes (diet soda over regular), but I wouldn't say I'm avoiding them. Although a life without cheese is incredibly sad.5

For health reasons, I avoid sugar, most starches, and high sugar fruits.

I don't avoid anything because I want to be able to maintain my weight loss this time. If I am avoiding something temporarily......then I need to start a new strategy when I get to goal.2

Eels. The thought of eating them, even in sushi, makes me cringe.
Oh you can add oysters to that thought.
In reality- if I like it; I eat or drink it. Sometimes not as often or not as much, but nothing is off my radar.

For me, avoiding refined grains and sugar does assist in weight loss too. Those foods drive my appetite. Even if they were fine for me, as I believed in the past, I avoid them to lose weight - and did so in the past too.0 -

I avoid soy and pizza, but that's due to food allergies. I used to "cheat" and eat food with soy (because much is tasty and it's in nearly everything) but then the daughter of one of my dad's co-workers died at age 25 from doing the same thing, and I saw the light and became pretty strict about complying with my allergy avoidances.
But as far as avoiding foods? Nah. Although there are some foods I only find worth budgeting once in a blue moon, like milkshakes.1 -
I don't avoid anything but I have to start limiting rice. I can eat way too much because I love rice.0

Swiss cake rolls, but only because I can't stop at one. I'll eat them at someone else's house if they offer me a single Swiss cake roll.5

A number of things due to a medical condition that is easily triggered by specific foods.
Other then that, I have not cut anything out of my diet.1 -
I avoid bread, because every bit of bread I could be eating, I think, why not chocolate? And then I eat chocolate14

I usually eat whatever fits in my calories- in moderation including candy etc. But certain things I can't buy- because I know I can't stop with just one- Nestlé treasures toffee version- I'm looking at you.... lol2

Anyone else getting a little tired of hearing "I eat everything I want and lose weight"? Yes, we get it. You only need to track calories to lose weight, but OP is asking a legitimate question that doesn't need holier-than-thou responses. And I know you want to tell me that there are no bad foods and you can fit anything into your goals, and I don't disagree... I'm just tired of it being stated over and over as a way to answer EVERY question. Might as well throw in the very helpful, but very repetitive flow chart.
Anyway, to answer your question OP. I avoid drinking my calories. A smoothie now and then is different, but soda will do nothing for my empty stomach and only add to my count.20 -
The main things I found very useful to avoid once I started using fitness pal are butter, using much less cheese, cream, sugar or honey and milk (hazelnut milk is a good replacement for my coffee) as I realised that if I have 3 coffees a day that adds up to almost 200 calories just for milk1

You only need to track calories to lose weight, but OP is asking a legitimate question that doesn't need holier-than-thou responses. And I know you want to tell me that there are no bad foods and you can fit anything into your goals, and I don't disagree... I'm just tired of it being stated over and over as a way to answer EVERY question. Might as well throw in the very helpful, but very repetitive flow chart.
ITT everyone (legitimately) answered the OP's question as it pertains to them though. "Nothing" is a valid answer.
The only way to avoid your tiredness with that stuff being a way to answer every question, would be to stick to questions that don't have that stuff as a valid answer. This question isn't one of them.8 -
@crb426 I know you have been around for a long time so these 2 things are reading as trite and repetitive to you, but there are new people joining daily and repeating is beneficial for them.
People come with preconceived notions and these can be valuable ways to dispel them.
I avoid clicking on links that I know will irritate me, and this can change week to week.

i eat potatoes daily....sometimes twice xD i eat 10-15 pounds a week hah

Also, it's an answer (among a myriad of others) to the question the OP asked. It just is. There's no getting around that. No alternative to avoiding the answer except to avoid the question.2 -
But is it a valid answer? If you are really not avoiding anything... just seems unrealistic to me.
Yes it is. "What foods do you avoid?" "Nothing". That's obviously a valid answer. It flat out answers the question, just as clearly as me answering with "bread."
I'm not sure what your issue with realism is, but it doesn't seem to be the complaint in your prior post.3 -

Many people come on here believing they need to cut foods out to lose weight. It doesn't need to happen unless it's something you cannot moderate. I'm not saying I eat as much of those foods as I did before, but I haven't 100% eliminated anything.4 -
I don't avoid anything but I do limit foods with added sugar and refined carbs. They are part of my diet but as an occassional treat rather than a daily thing. However, you need to do what works for you in this journey and it is different for all.2
