Been on a relatively steady diet since late february eating around 1800-2000 calories a day and going to gym 4-5 days a week burning around 400 calories each time. My progress has been good going from 85kg when i started to 77kg at the start of april. Over that time period i had the odd meal out with seamingly no affect but yesterday i turned 18 and went all out tallying up an entire day of around 5000 calories from eating and drinking. From others experience how much do days like this set you back?

Expect some water weight, so a jump on the scale and otherwise, don't sweat it.

If it's of relevance I am 6ft 4inches tall and have resting metabolic rate of 1902 calories a day apparantly needing 1983 calories at basal metabolic rate to maintain my body weight

those days don't really set you back unless you make it a weekly thing. You'll be fine. and good god people born in 99 are 18 now?

Don't even. My stepdaughter was born on '00 and she's going for her driving licence. WTF.

No - your maintenance calories are your TDEE not just your RMR.

In my experience one big enjoyable day of eating has zero significant impact.
    Happy birthday!

Worst case, you gained a pound of fat. Continue what you've been doing and it will go away eventually.
