Hello!! I'm hoping some of you can help point me in the right direction!
Before pic 131.6
After (today) 127.2
5'2"
I started one month ago today with 6 pounds to lose and a dream of turning this baby maker body times 4 into not just slim, but fit, with defined muscles!! To get the results I've gotten thus far has been lots of 30 Day Shred, Burn Boot Camp (only the last week), and running. I am lost on how to turn my remaining fat into muscle? I'm lost on how many calories to eat? This month I ate a very strict 1280, with MFP set to lose 1.5 a week, that didn't happen.
Can y'all help me?!? Thank in advance!!

Have you read this? Loads of good info.

Just wanted to point out that fat doesn't "turn" to muscle. You lose fat to expose the muscle under the fat. With so little to lose, you probably need to really make sure you are logging accurately.5

I'm skinny fat too. I am 5'11" and currently weigh 126.6 pounds. I have lots of body fat though. Trying to eat better and tone up. I actually need to gain weight. I do not have access to a gym or weights so I have to rely mostly on my own body weight. I think you look great and wish you much success on your fitness journey! Good luck!4

You can't turn fat into muscle. If you want to tone up, I suggest you follow a weight program. Your diet is low, so have protein in order to maintain and build muscle. You probably won't see the results in a month but by summer you should be ready.2

You don't look skinny fat to me, you just look normal for your weight.
If you want to get leaner then you need a lot longer than one month.
Set your deficit to 0.5lbs per week and pick a lifting programme.16 -

i agree with this. And you've made some improvement in your forward head posture, that's only going to get better over time too.

Forward head posture? Is that a real thing? I can see a difference now that you point it out, but does posture really change as one gets more in shape?0 -

well, it's a common problem in sedentary individuals especially those who work in an office or use their smart phones often. You also look like you could have some upper cross syndrome (postural distortion pattern) but it's hard to tell from your pose with your hands on your hips. It's categorized by forward head posture and forward rounded shoulders. Usually you'll also have some sway back which i think you have in your photos as well.
These happen as a result of bending over and looking at screens all day. I wont get technical on the specific muscles, but your back muscles and front of the neck muscles become weak and your upper back/neck and chest muscles get tight. Most people with this issue get "stress soreness" in their upper back in between the shoulder blades. If doing a trapezius stretch or a door-chest stretch feels insanely amazing it's probably a good chance you're dealing with this issue; other than the obvious in the image above.
oh, and PS: Yes, it gets better overtime as a result of strengthening those muscles and routinely and consciously having better posture. For example, keeping a neutral spine on a deadlift can help tremendously.8 -
Just keep going. You are small. You likely won't lose 1.5lbs per week. Us petites have much less room to play with. If you work hard however, you can do wonders in just a few months. Below was from last year. Eating around 1200 40/20/40 P/F/C macros with one free day per week. Lifting 3x/week and HIIT sprints 3x/week. One rest day.

Concur with changing the rate of loss to .5 a week. Pick you a strength training program and add in some cardio if you like, and make sure you are getting in enough protein and keep going. The process takes a lot longer than a month.
Maybe take a look at the strength training programs from this link.

Thank you for the link. That was going to be my next question. Is it essenatial that I eat all the calories?? It takes me from 1280 now to 1750 when I adjust to .05lb per week. I don't know that I can eat that much. I'm content with the 1280???
The whole eat more calories to gain muscle just throws me. I mean, I know I need fuel but that's a lot! I feel like it's a slippery slope. The last thing I want to do is gain what I have lost back....0 -

1750 is still a deficit so you won't gain weight!1 -
Agree with those telling you to eat more. You have to make a choice. Lose significant fat in a deficit, gain muscle plus a little fat in a slight surplus, or gain muscle slowly and lose fat slowly at maintenance levels.1

A more aggressive calorie deficit compound issues with what you are trying to achieve goal wise.
If you feel uncomfortable with such a jump in calories, increase the calories slowly. Eating too little will affect you metabolically at some point as well. The whole not eating enough is a real thing.0 -

Quoting this post because the answer is in the link provided.2 -
Have you tried BBG? I lost 32lbs doing that and am at week 24 today. I stopped losing weight about a month and a half ago so I started weight training. Haven't lost much weight after that, but I can see the muscle and I feel stronger. Look into BBG. It's worth a shot!0

You look great, especially for having had four kids! If I were you, I would seriously consider a recomp rather than cutting.0

That would imply you've always been losing weight your whole life. If it were true, then you wouldn't have had any weight to lose... This is a bit of a red flag to me.1 -
Are you weighing your food?0

Girl, you look great already but I think you could benefit from some resistance training in your life. The links posted already (So You Want a Nice Stomach and Which Lifting Program is Best for You) are super helpful in crafting your overall strategy and a choosing a resistance/lifting program that will work for your life.

I suppose I should have said, I don't want to eat that much. I have slow digestion and to eat the 12?? Keeps my body happy. The 131, bc yes, I had weight to lose from overeating and feeling bloated and consipated all the time, was miserable and I don't want that again!!0
