Calories and Carbs

I am new in the whole thing about eating healthy and MFP. I understand now that my set goal calories is what i should consume (so happy i can eat more lol) and if i exercise the remaining calories is what I can eat more :-) Obviously I thought the less calories i consume the better it was. My meals are high in carbs according to the app, does this affect on losing weight? What would be a good balance between carbs, fiber and carbs?

Thanks!!!!

Nope, only excess calories contribute to weight loss. If you like carb and still get adequate protien, fat and fibre, then you're good.

For more protein, add more fat free Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, meat, seafood, protien powders/bars, jerky. I believe the default mfp protein value is very low. For more fat, don't forget to log the cooking oils! Mayo, peanut butter, nuts, fattier cuts of meat, avocado (for fat and fibre).

If you like carbs, eat carbs. Just make sure you're getting at least the minimum for protein and fats, and fibre.

You should limit your carbs (starches and sugars, processed food) to help you lose weight.

Nope, nope, nope. Excess calories cause weight gain, not carbohydrates.

Gah! Meant to say "only excess calories cause weight gain". Derpasaurus rex moment.
