I had my 600ml bottle of water at work and one of the drs asked how much I had lost. I told him. "So effectively" he replied "you have lost about 11 bottles of water!" Pretty damn impressive looking at it like that20

I bought my very first pair of running shoes yesterday!31

I bought my very first pair of running shoes yesterday!
I actually had to order new running shoes because the one I had been wearing were completely worn out on the bottom!!! I've never had that happen to a pair of running shoes before! (Guess probably because I wasn't actually running in them lol)13 -
I went to my nephews' birthday party yesterday and didn't have any brownies or cupcakes! I had about a dozen jelly beans as my sweet treat and was satisfied with that.18

Did a 5K run yesterday. Terry Fox thing. Did not run the whole thing but didn't do too bad.26

2 little ones. I bought a shirt this weekend and it was a small. I'm sure it was vanity sized and all, but at this time last year I was still wearing 2 and 3 Xs. I bought a medium from the same company last week and my husband said it was big enough where I probably should have bought the small (whaaaaaaaaaaaaaa? me?) so I jumped on the opportunity this weekend to get the similar shirt. It took every ounce of my self-restraint not to leave the "S" sticker on the front all day.
The second one was that my trainer cancelled on our bike ride but I went ahead and went for it. I had done this same route 2 weeks ago in some ugly winds. This time my average speed was 2.6 mph faster. In fairness, it wasn't anywhere near as windy but I was pleased to get my average speed up given those hills.32 -
Husband and I did our first 5k yesterday; and even though I haven't run in a year I ran WAY more of it than I expected I could. Starting out, I ran a full 5 minutes, no big deal, and only had to stop because the stitch in my side got SO painful lol.
Also, very close to my first weightlifting goal set; 60lb row and bench press, 100lb squat, and 115lb deadlift. I will probably hit them all this week!!!17 -
Had a totally rubbish bike ride today, I just could not get into "the zone". Took ages to get anywhere because of the wind, ended up going miles in a headwind which was exhausting and my wrists were causing me horrendous trouble. In the end I decided that I'd try again later, and headed for home.
On the way home, I was so annoyed with the experience, I decide to eat all the chocolate I could find in the house. Including any belonging to my children. It was going to be ALL the chocolate. No holds barred. Even though I'm not supposed to eat any chocolate due to a medication I'm taking. I didn't care. ALL THE CHOCOLATE.
I got back home, ready to raid the cupboards and everywhere that chocolate may be residing. I was going on a chocolate rampage. NOTHING was going to stop me.
Until I saw the bananas. They were so bright, and yellow, and delicious looking.
So I ate a banana and forgot the chocolate.
Hours later, I still don't want the chocolate.
I 'fessed up to my DH about it, expecting him to laugh but he just said that if I had eaten all of the chocolate, I'd have been sick. But it would have cured any further desire for the stuff.
And now I'm going out for another cycle ride. Just because.26 -
I fit into size 12 jeans on Saturday. Comfortably.
I feel a little overwhelmed by it, because when I first joined MFP I was a size 22W and those were getting too tight. After I lost a little weight but was still around a size 20, I wandered over into the "Normal" section to see what the future might hold for me if I kept at it. I specifically remembered picking off the rack a pair of Size 12 jeans and just laughing and laughing because they looked so TINY - I couldn't stop giggling because they looked child-sized compared to what I had been wearing for 15-20 years. The size 6 and 8 were completely unfathomable.... only a toddler could wear those!
Now I'm wearing size 12 and I'm still around 30 lbs from my goal weight. Size 8? Size 6? Watch out - here I come!41 -
a girl i went to high school with started at my job today. i haven't seen her since graduation in 2009... she caught my attention walking through the hallway and was all, "brittany?! OMG! i haven't seen you in foreverrrr you look EXACTLY the same!! wait... didnt you have kids?!"
yes, girl. lol thank goodness you didnt see me a year ago! O_O

Since last year, my waist has shrunk by four belt notches. One more notch and I'll need a new belt!18

This might seem like a weird one, but I'm no longer the last person people sit next to on the train in the morning. I remember when I took up two seats and didnt fit through the regular station turnstiles without turning sideways and sucking my gut in. Now there's actually a full seat next to me.
With the long legs no one still wants to sit opposite me though32 -

Standing in the lunch room this morning for the morning announcements, one of my students looked at me, her eyes got HUGE, and she mouths, "oh my gosh, you look like you've lost a LOT of weight!" I see this girl M-F, and it just blew her away this morning. Then, when she came in for class 2nd hour, she states it again like she just can't believe it. My outfit must have been on point today. Kinda loved it. Nothin like a vain teenager tellin you just how awesome you look. She may just be my new favorite. Lol27

1) The security guard in my building sees me Mon-Thur. Last week's convo:
Him: have you been hitting the gym?
Me: nope. Been counting calories! (said with a chest-puffed-out-in-pride kinda tone)
Him: well. You're looking very well so it made me wonder. Cause I see you come in every day and lately there's been a lot less of you coming in!
Me: *bursts out laughing* I'll take the compliment, thanks!
2) This morning we had a heat wave (which over here means we're on the + side) so I decided on wearing trousers to work (as opposed to tights/leggings + dresses which is usual for me during frigid winters). Pants I hadn't worn in, uhh, 3-4 months?! Well. I had trouble finding a pair I could get to stay on.
Panic-laugh-panic: rinse & repeat throughout the day (yes, I was that person who keeps pulling their trousers up every 5 seconds). YESSSSS!!!!!16 -
My husband and i take turns cooking dinner. This is something new we've started recently. Today was his turn, and he was supposed to be making steak and corn on the cob. Well, i got home from work late, and he'd forgotten to marinate the steaks. Instead of going out to eat, I decided to switch him days. We had hot dogs, home made baked sweet potato fries, and some pasta. Could have been healthier, but stayed under my calorie goal, and it was much better than eating out.
Got in all my water plus some today.
Only had 3 cups of coffee, compared to a pot and a half.18 -
Today was day 3 of week 5 of my lifting program and I got to 100lbs on my squats! I'm SO excited about that I can't even tell you!19

great thread! mine may seem small, but for me it was huge. I went to a chinese restaurant last night that I LOVE. I ate well within my calorie allotment that I had left. ate about 1/2 cup rice, and about 3/4 cup Ma Po tofu. I had so much left over, the waitress came over and asked me if there was a problem with my food! Her English was very basic, so I had a hard time explaining, but I just said, "I'm full." and the thing is, I didn't even feel deprived or angry, like I have in the past at restaurants.13

Vacation planning with my husband and am filling our schedule with hiking, biking, snorkeling, kayacking , and more hiking/zip lining. The thought of sitting around and eating just doesn't seem appealing. The great gym and free 4x daily yoga classes may have swayed me to this hotel too (okay, and the poolside wine happy hour).
Can't wait!18 -
I've had a nasty cold the last week or so. Instead of using that as an excuse to eat like a human trash can and not move, I've been sticking to my meal plans (except for the grilled cheese I had with my tomato soup because...come on) and even showed up for my personal training session today, box of Kleenex in hand!20

I love dancing but for years I've avoided joining any groups or taking classes because with my extra weight I didn't have the flexibility or the energy. Next Monday I'm auditioning to be in a can-can dancing group!33

I refrained from pointing out to someone that they were living under a set of artificial rules designed entirely to maintain a mental fiction. It was an annoying (to them and me) mental fiction, but I recognized they can live their entire life inconvenienced by that fantasy and will harm no one (except by their zealotry to spread it.)
This has nothing to do with weight loss. But it was a victory nonetheless.16 -
I have a great one that isn't even really mine...
Last night my husband comes home and puts one of those REV snack-wraps on the counter and says; "Honey, I can't eat this crap, have you seen what's in it?" He proceeds to read me the label making note of the amount of sodium, cholesterol, fat and ingredients that were purely chemicals. I am proud of him! As a master licensed nutrition I've been trying to get him to be mindful for a while and this was definitely a victory!35 -
Another month, another work meeting with yummy snacks! Avoiding the table entirely!16

Haven't had a chance to read through this thread in a week or so - even tho it is a favourite of mine. Just scrolled through dozens of NSVs... they are all inspiring and wonderful victories! Thanks to everyone for keeping this thread so nourishing and calorie free!!

Today I realized I have lost half of the weight I wanted to lose. Then I thought about how much I still had to go, a little over 50 pounds.
I almost started crying. Not out of sadness, but in joy!
I have lost half the weight I wanted to lose in less than a year. I now know that I can lose the other half. I can be a healthy, happy and active person. I eat better than I have ever in my life. I exercise way more than I ever have. I am trying things I never thought I would ever try to do, and I am working on things I thought, sure that would be great to do, but there is no way I would ever be able to do it. I am also setting some really great examples for my children. I hope that they will never have to know this struggle.42 -
I live near Yosemite National Park and love to go hiking there. 2 years ago I hiked the trail to Vernal Falls, it's under a mile to the fall, but very steep and I had to stop many times to catch my breath. Last year I hiked it again and had to stop twice. Yesterday I powered up the entire way without stopping. I may be close to 60 years old, but am in better shape than when I was 40!49
