Need motivation - 5'5 255lbs female

Currently doing my best to cut things out slowly. Started a month ago cutting out pop/sugary drinks strictly only drinking water. Then started with cutting out bread, pasta, potatoes and rice. Now doing 30-45mins a day of cardio with light weight lifting. I recently weighed myself for the first time in 10 years. I thought I was around 300lbs but turns out im 255. Just need some motivation my ultimate goal is to be 130-140 with some muscle tone... Anything success stories would help me stay motivated !!! Im currently just eating minimum dairy, meat, veggies and minimum fruits.

Just keep it up. Remember that it is an emotional roller coaster. Some days you will feel great, others you won't. Whenever you feel yourself slacking, Just remember what your ultimate goal is!9

I am about where you are, but 5'3 and 245lbs. I'd love to see if there are other people in our beginning height and weight range that are now at goal or near goal. Is that the kind of inspiration you need as well?3 -

I started at 274. I'm 5'4. It took me a year but I'm down 110 pounds. It's not about eliminating food groups. It's about portion control. Eat whole grain bread or pasta. I still eat sweets and have an occasional iced coffee. Veggies, fruits, protein, water, and tea (green tea(iced or hot)) are my go to foods. I go to the gym 2-3 times a week for an hour or so. One day is just cardio, one day is cardio, arms, and cardio. The last day is cardio, legs, and finish with cardio. I've competed in 2 5K's.
I'm getting to where I want to be weight wise but I want to get down 20-30 more pounds. I've lost 7 pant sizes and 4 shirt sizes.
Trust me. It is possible.22 -

I am 60 years old and 5'5" tall. I started March 11th at 194.4. I had gone to the doctor, which I rarely ever do...because it had been so long since I had blood work, he ordered it. My cholesterol was high, my blood sugar, and of course my weight. I told him that I couldn't understand why my numbers were so high. I don't eat sugar, and had cut out almost anything white, especially white bread. He told me I really needed whole grains in my diet. I followed his suggestion, got some whole grain bread, beans, cut out fried foods, didn't drink soda anyway, and really upped my water intake. I lost 4 lbs the first month. I started doing fitness pal, tracking my calories, and I realized how much I was actually over eating. I found that if I made better choices, with lots of vegetables, lean protein, and my whole grains, just how much food I could really eat. I also started drinking Brags Apple Cider Vinegar, at least twice a day, one in the morning, and before bed. Since then...42 days later, I've lost another almost 10 lbs. as of this morning. Tracking helps so much. Best thing is...I don't have to do without anything, if there's something I want, I just eat enough to stay within my range for the day. The Apple Cider Vinegar, has taken all my cravings away. I haven't been below 180 lbs in over five years, but I'm almost there, and not hungry. I no longer diet, and now realize I can have anything, I just limit my portions. I'm finally enjoying eating. I wish you the best, just don't do without anything you love...just limit it, and you will be successful.2

Hello harcar2016. I am 5'5" and started MFP at 233 pounds although my all time high weight was 251. I am down to 156 and still working to lose the last 21 pounds. It can definately be done. I'm 60 years old! If I can do it you can. I have done nothing fancy but eat at 1200 - 1400 calories and walk. I started with 4000 steps a day and still only have my goal set at 8000. Sometimes I get 10,000 to 11,000 but I'm happy if I do at least 8000. You can do this. Find some exercise you like and can do and just take it one step at a time. I have dieted for years but this time I decided it was going to be what I could live with forever. I did not cut anything out. I just limit quantities. I eat much healthier but that came gradually too. I still use sour cream (in moderation) and butter. I count all my calories and will have to continue to log for the rest of my life because I am NOT gaining it back. It feels great to be "normal". I can shop in any of the stores now. I don't have to buy clothes because they fit but can buy because I LIKE them! Anyone who has been over 200 pounds can likely identify with these things. Although in Canada there is much less selection that the US so maybe none of you have experienced that. Good luck and take your time with this. You want it to be sustainable.5

I'm 44 years old, 5 ft 5, and my heaviest was in January 2015 at 245 lbs. I lost a few pounds here and there, not really trying, somehow got down to 234. I joined MFP on July 25 2016 at was at 222 lbs. I lost a bunch of weight the first few months and got down to 185 in January 2017 then the loss started to taper off. I still lose weight and am down to around 173 and my goal is probably around 140. Just don't get discouraged - if you lose a lot at first, you might get upset and want to give up when you are not losing like 2 lbs every week. Understand that you will hit walls and just keep going!5

You can do it! I have stats similar to yours, though I started heavier and am an inch taller. I've already lost over 25 lbs by just tracking my calories and upping my physical activity. I know you can do it too!4

I'm shorter, older and started heavier than you so if I can do it you can. I started at 287 in August 2016 and am down to 192 95 pounds down. I really don't limit any one food group it's just too hard for me to feel denied. I just eat within my calorie budget and try to make "incremental" choices (like ground turkey instead of ground beef, broccoli instead of mashed potatoes, one serving of candy instead of an entire bag). I also started walking and joined a gym. I started out barely able to walk a block and now I am walking between 8-10 miles per day every day. I do it in segments a 3.5-4 mile walk in the morning and a 4-5 mile walk in the evening.If I'm lucky I'll get a lunch time mile in as well. I'm not fast but I am consistent. I try not to eat back all of my exercise calories but I usually only leave about 100 in my daily budget. At the gym I lift some weights but probably need to work with a trainer.
The second half of my journey is going slower more like 1 pound per week but I am happy with my progress and really believe I can make it to goal.
You can do this. Just do a little more each day and before you know it it won't be a diet but a lifestyle.11 -

I am 5'6" and in 2013 I weighed 236. Today I woke up at 146.6. It's long journey but stay motivated and keep doing what you're doing. I was 198 last Easter so I have lost a majority of my weight in a year. Since May of 2016 I have been eating Keto and January 2017 I started to exercise regularly, following Kayla Itsines' Bikini Body Guide as well as going to the gym.

I'm 5'4.5". Heaviest was 260 lbs in Jan 2012 after my first pregnancy. I started working on my weight in 2012. I was pregnant at the end of 2013 through spring 2014 and gained 40 lbs during that time (172 pre-pregnancy to 212 day of c-section). I lost the pregnancy weight before 2015 and by April 2016 was 122 lbs (trend weight). I skipped up a bit mid-late 2016 and I am currently trending 133.3 lbs (recent low of 131.2 lbs scale weight).
I like to lift. When I can get to the gym on a regular basis I do StrongLifts 5x5 or strong curves. here recently I haven't been able to make it to the gym so I've been doing a program called live to fail on daily burn. The program uses a lighter dumbbells and you aim for 4 sets of 10 - 12 reps and hopefully the dumbbells are heavy enough that you buy your 4th said you are having trouble reaching 10 reps or so. And depending on the exercise since their isolation workouts I will use anywhere from 5 to 20 pounds. I also do strong curves at home program as well with that. If I feel up to cardio I usually do some Just Dance. Before I had access to a gym I was doing all my workouts at home using the Wii and Xbox Kinect. I would do things like the programs on EA active which included a lot of strength training.5 -
I'm 5'5" and started at 281. I'm currently 188. I didn't eliminate any food groups. I still regularly eat potatoes and rice and cake and cookies and whatever else I fancy just in moderation. I do not do any cardio. I walk because I enjoy being outside and I do kettlebell workouts.
The picture doesn't really show it well but my legs are quite defined now. And my arms are getting there.
I would caution against being too restrictive in your diet. You don't want to look at this as a short term diet. I look at it as I made a lifestyle change and I didn't make any restrictions that I couldn't live with forever. Just my opinion.

My heaviest was 235 after my second child. I was 250 before having her. I am currently 186. I remember feeling discouraged at the beginning but time goes by so fast no matter what you do so you might as well work on your goals and find yourself lighter and healthier in the end. One day at a time and you will get there if you eat at a deficit and move more. I am 35 and 5,7'.7 -
I'm 5'4. I started on here in 2013 at 50 years old and 268 pounds. I've been maintaining at 150 pounds for 3 years.

I am 5'1 and my heaviest was 223 pounds. I am down 14 pounds in almost a month. I try to make better decision about food and stay in my calorie zone. I have found the healthier I eat the more I can have. Which really helps me. I also do cardio 3-4 times a week. Just keep your mind focused on why you started this journey. And remember it's a lifestyle change and becoming more aware of intake than a diet3
