Oh sure I've thought of giving up lots of times. lol But what's the alternative? Regarding a tummy tuck etc. I plan to have skin removal and lift if the need arises after being at goal after a year or two.
Not sure I fully understand your comparison though... how is giving up = a tummy tuck? Or are talking about giving up making healthy food choices and exercise and getting weight loss surgery instead? Not sure I understand that comparison either...1 -

I basically mean has anyone ever wanted to quit working out and do the alternative to losing weight. Don't get me wrong surgery is sometimes the best way to go but I'm mainly talking about people who don't want to keep going the "no pain no gain" way.0 -

Having your body sliced open is hardly the 'no pain' option...3 -
Having any type of surgery to reduce weight/fat/size wouldn't teach me to control my eating habits. It would get quicker results, sure, but unless I learnt to understand my diet and develop a good relationship with food it probably wouldn't last very long.2

The surgery (body lifts, tummy tucks, etc.) is actually really difficult to heal from and is immensely uncomfortable. Also, aftercare includes keeping the weight off so you don't rupture sutures. I wouldn't consider it unless it became an absolute must--meaning I've kept weight off for a long time but the loose skin caused terrible complications. I'd never think of it as any kind of shortcut, no.2
