Is this a problem for anyone else? When I cycle outside my nose runs pretty much constantly. Sniffing every few seconds is really irritating. I assume it's something to do with the coldness and speed of the wind as you inhale or something?
And if anyone does experience this, any tips?

That's why cycling gloves are made with a terrycloth patch on the thumbs. The technical name is exercise-induced rhinitis.7

Alergic to anything?0

Especially when it's chilly out.0

Same thing happens to me when running or exercising. Using the Neti-pot for nasal lavage has helped a lot. I used to take Sudafed, but it revved my heart rate up too much but it worked really well.

I don't cycle but I run with my running nose. Lol
I use a cloth arm band meant for a phone to hold my tissues. Sudafed and Flonase helps.0 -
Yep. Same here.0

Google exercise induced rhinitis. It's very common...0

Did you catch it?1

I had no idea this is a thing!! It happens to me running if the temp is less than 60 degrees. That's pretty interesting.0

Yes. I don't now how many people I've smiled at from my bike with a big, booger string hanging out my nose. Wipe your nose on your gloves and wash them (buy a few pairs!).0

I run much more than I bike, but I still get this pretty often in cooler weather while running or biking. My snot rocket game is pretty on point after years of practice.1

I cannot master the snot rocket. My last attempt resulted in being covered in back fire.1 -
I get this whenever I'm outside if it's under a certain temperature or there's a breeze, even if I'm just walking the dog! I think it's mostly from my eyes tearing (VERY sensitive) which in turn makes the nose run. Snot rocket perfected from years of horseback riding - can't use your hands to blow if your holding the reins.0

i get it when i run in the cold. i just sniff it in a lot, or wipe it on my sleeve once in a while.sometimes if it runs down my nose i lick it. i know disgusting, but it's not thick or anything, it's clear and runny.0

Happens skiing, too.

Yep. In cool or warm weather. Running, cycling, or anything active. It's gross, but you can blow out one nostril at a time and dab with a hanky.0

Thank you for this!!!! Any form of exercise has always resulted in my nose running like a faucet, but I've never had a name for it. My trainer thinks I'm nuts, so I'm going to show her this lol.0 -
Once an hour indoors, once every 5 minutes riding fast in cold weather outdoors.
Tips:
#1 - Snot rockets.
#2 - If people's gaze keeps wandering from your face to your shoulder when you talk to them after a cycle ride then you need to get better at #13 -
I get it, too, so I've become a pro at snot rockets. Apparently not everyone has this issue because I was running a 5K race on Saturday and did a snot rocket (straight down at my own legs since I wash my tights after running anyways) and a couple a few yards off to the side of me made a point of saying, "ew, gross!"
