April has been a washout for me, prior to this morning. I had hoped for more, but I'm revising my target down to 300 miles.

Finally off the mark, after a mare of a month:

Sat 01 - missed planned ride
    Sun 02 - rest
Mon 03 - missed planned ride
Tue 04 - missed planned ride
Wed 05 - missed planned ride
Thu 06 - missed planned ride
Fri 07 - missed planned ride
    Sat 08 - rest
    Sun 09 - rest
Mon 10 - missed planned ride
    Tue 11 - 23.8 miles: MTD 23.8 / 300, YTD 1072.94 / 4000

I've fallen a bit off the pace for the year target, but I'm not too worried about that - the big miles should come in June to August, I wasn't expecting much more than to not get too far behind

Back from travelling since, so I finally got the first rides of the month in. Fortunately the weather is great, so extending my usual commute route a little bit to play catch-up was fun

I'm super addicted to my exercise bike, can I join in this thread ... I don't ride a road bike because I have balance issues and riding a real bike terrifies me - I love exercising biking though.

I do 30 minutes H.I.I.T cycling every other day, on the days in between I do weight training, so I guess I cover some cyber mileage ... my profile picture is me on my exercise racer bike lol

There's nothing wrong with using a trainer! It's how I got through the winter. I hate being cold, and really didn't want to give up such an awesome pastime. Welcome aboard!

Big guy here. 49. 30 years since I rode a bike with any consistency. I am setting myself a goal of 40 miles for this month. I'm not to sure how I will do but I am gonna give it a damn good go.

Welcome @GMFDOM, @chriskemmings7454, @MAH80T50, @barryhiro and any other new joiners that I may have missed.

For me, I've closed the week with a surprisingly fast leg into work, and a slog into headwind on the way home:
    Thu 13 - 23.84 miles: MTD 80.43 / 300, YTD 1129.57 / 4000

    Welcome, everyone who just joined!

@MAH80T50 , actually I think riding an exercise bike can be even harder than a road bike. I tried indoor cycling for the first time this year, and was quickly soaked in sweat.

@tcaley4 Wow, that's a huge distance you've been riding in the last years, impressive!

I didn't have to work today, and the weather was great. Time for a bike ride
Not spectatular compared to what some of you guys are doing, but for me, it was my longest ride since I bought the bike last year: 47.6km.
It was actually more fun than I expected - my longest ride this year before was only 20km, so I was a little worried about going more than twice that far, but in was fine. There aren't any completely flat routes around, but I got most of the hills out of the way in the first third of the ride, so after that I could relax.
And I realised I'm finally able both to ride no-hands and to grab the waterbottle and put it back while riding. Guess a few rides on rollers during the winter did indeed help to improve my balance.

    11.04. 22.8 km commute
    12.04. 17.6 km commute
    14.04. 47.6 km ride

I forgot to post last week! I'm still having problems with my right knee after my meniscus surgery so I had a very painful, swollen leg but I did manage to ride on Sunday:

April 9th - 14.8 miles on my road bike; 56:38; knee discomfort
April 14th - 8.4 miles on my road bike; 36:25; major East wind, 15 mph easily

MTD = 53.2 on the dot!

    Hi everyone,

I just purchased a new trainer - Bkool. It has meant lots of changes for me. I can now see my real power, and I'm riding at a much slower pace. The slower pace is more accurate and based on my weight - which I'm working on loosing, and is which is why I'm riding.

I do most of my riding indoors on the trainer and will very likely continue to do so moving forward, even with the nicer weather.

Promising start to the month - finally the wind has died down and the sun has come out so a series of firsts:
First ride over 50 miles this year.
First ride this year on my carbon wheeled bike.
First ride in mitts not gloves.

Going to aim for 600 miles in April and see about entering my first Audax event of the year in early May.

    MTD:
    4 Hours - 59 miles - 3 Personal Records - 2 Activities

    YTD:
    59 Hours - 998.5 miles - 52 Personal Records - 61 Activities

Absolutely glorious weather for cycling in Southern England this weekend so did a little fittest/endurance test to help me decide what event to enter in early May as my first Audax or the season - options are 100 or 130 miles.

Over 100 miles this weekend but felt fatigued on the last 20 miles so will go for the shorter event. Quite pleased to average over 17mph though.

    MTD:
    12 Hours - 204 miles - 9 Personal Records - 7 Activities

    YTD:
    67 Hours - 1143.5 miles - 58 Personal Records - 66 Activities

Trying to ramp up the distance now - four hour hilly ride yesterday and took a chunk of time off the first big hill. Now closer to nine and a half minutes of hell instead of ten minutes of hell. :)
Also did the short but nasty Crocknorth Road, 10% average and max of 16% but for some reason it feels far worse than that.
Pleased I was still hitting Strava PRs after 55 miles so my fitness must be reasonable.

    MTD:
    19 Hours - 310 miles - 30 Personal Records - 19 Activities

    YTD:
    74 Hours - 1250.1 miles - 79 Personal Records - 78 Activities

@Machka9 Wow, you did some very impressive distances over easter. Great rides!!!

    --

It's suddenly gotten a lot colder. Took the bike to work today (short way, still okay), rode a longer way back. My hands were freezing without gloves (7°C, "feels like 2°C"). And what was supposed to be a relaxing after-work-ride turned into a struggle against the wind. There's this one climb which I always try to do well on. According to Strava, three weeks ago I did it in 16:53; today it took me 19:37, and I was completely wiped out when I reached the highest point. Evil wind!
I was exhausted and really, really hungry when I got home. Just as I finished dinner, a friend called and asked if I wanted to join for dinner at the pub. I had some calories left over, so I decided another snack and a nice beer (=isotonic sports drink, right?) would be nice. Took the bike to get there, and the wind was still a nuisance, argh. Don't know why I expected it would be any better an hour later, but at least that time I was prepared and wore a jacket and gloves.
All in all I covered less distance in four rides than on Friday in a single ride, but it felt much harder.

    11.04. 22.8 km commute
    12.04. 17.6 km commute
    14.04. 47.6 km ride
    18.04. 40.5 km (5.2 + 22.3 + 6.5 + 6.5) commute/ride/pub
