Cutting sucks.
I have around 7lbs to cut. Might go up to 10lbs, will see. I am on a 500 calorie deficit. My macros are 50P/30C/20F right now.
I lift heavy two times a week ( upper body, lower body), work with a PT twice a week ( mostly high intensity circuit training) and cardio one day a week.
I just started my cut. Have a long way to go.0 -
What happened to your other thread asking for advice? You decided to cut and try to maintain lean mass?0

Nothing. Fat for lyfe.0

I cut from 215 to 168 in 450 days lol1

Easing out of my bulk in a week. Not sure what my game plan is yet.. probably should figure it out soon... Haha0

Just a curious question.. Is there a difference between cutting and losing fat, or are they just 2 different words meaning the same thing?1

Same thing. It's just a term used more by people who lift or train, because you're doing something to help save muscle and lose mainly fat.3 -

@usmcmp at the moment I've just got off intermittent fasting I'm trying to cut but overall goal is to put on muscle without getting too fat. If that makes sense I'm just trying to find out what's best for me.1

You're trying to cut and put on muscle at the same time? I'm confused1 -

This thread had nothing to do with intermittent fasting.0 -
This is what I've achieved so far but since I put on muscle I seem to be putting on a bit of excess fat that's why I decided to cut.0

I think you still don't understand how this all works.
Cutting: Losing weight and trying to keep as much muscle as possible. You will not put on muscle while cutting.
Bulking: Putting on weight in an effort to gain muscle. You will also gain fat.
Recomp: Maintaining weight while lifting in an effort to gain muscle while losing fat. Your weight will not change.
Which one do you want?2 -

Yeah. That's how it works. You eat in a surplus to gain muscle, thus gaining fat as well since you're human and can't gain only muscle. Now you cut to get your body fat percent down. But you have to pick a goal.2 -
@usmcmp thanks tbh I was a bit confused but it makes sense what I want now it's recomp last thing sorry. If you do put on muscle when you recomp won't you also put on weight?0

There's a German expression for this dilemma. It's "Wanting your cake and eat it too."
You can recomp to maintain your muscle as much as you can.1 -

No. Well, you shouldn't. You should lose fat weight whilst gaining muscle weight, so your actual weight doesn't change much0 -

It's the same thing. I can't stand the word, makes me think of self harming every time I read it (and I've never been in to that myself!)0 -

No, your weight shouldn't move that much because you'll be losing fat as well. Adding muscle in recomp isn't nearly as fast as a bulk and the fat loss isn't nearly as fast as a cut would be. Overall a recomp of a year should land you about where a cut and bulk would within that same year time frame.
If you're looking to be shredded on the beach this summer a recomp isn't going to get you there because it's not fast. What you would want in that case is a cut.1 -
I'm trying the Keto thing to cut. Carb intake is around 20g net carbs per day (plus or minus 2-3g). Honestly that is all I have been paying attention to lately. My calories are reduced as well, but I haven't paid too much attention to them. I've been on it for about 3.5 weeks now and I have noticed a change (more so that when I was just watching calories).
I workout at home (no gym for me). Been doing a combination on Beachbody Body Beast and Core De Force kickboxing for workouts. No cheat days, no soda, no sugar, no alcohol... I can definitely say its the toughest diet I have ever done, but I like the results so far.1
