We did a 5k at my daughters elementary school, I literally do not run but exercise occasionally and am 5'4 and 198 pounds
I finished in 44min 4 seconds... my 6 year old won 2nd place and finished in 32 minutes along with my hubby! I am beyond words proud of them!
I'm curious as to how "good" or not good I did, with no training

Comparison is the thief of joy.

    You did good!

Unless you are one of the very few that has a chance to win, your time does not matter. It only matters that you did it and that you had fun. Congrats!

You just did a 5k with no training with your husband and daughter. That is awesome.

Have you thought about continuing it as a family?

You showed up and did it!! Great job!

You now have the bug. I ran my first in October and have my 11th on Saturday. It's fun! I like competing with myself and collecting the T-shirts!

Congratulations! You finished a race! Your first one! Be proud. Bask in the success.

I ran my first 5k mid March. I had been toying with the idea of running since the fall. Did the walk-run thing and sealed the deal by telling my Marathon running girlfriend I would run a 5 k in December 2017 while she runs a 15k. Anyhow, my husband and I are having drinks with her and her husband when she asks if I want to run a 5 k in 9 days with her..... since I'd started running 5 k twice a week since just after Christmas, I surprised the heck out of her and signed up.

That morning it was unseasonably hot. As in over 85degrees when my race began just before 9am. A mile into the race as I was thundering in a stampeded of runners, I wondered why the heck I had signed up to do this. But I finished. I had to walk bits since I had run the first mile at too fast a pace but when I neared the finish line I was amazed to see I had improved my usual time for 5k by 3 minutes. That's a minute a mile. I was hooked at the finish line. Now I have an official time so I can get in a corral for the Hot Chocolates 5 k in Scottsdale this December.

Sure, I had lots of runners speed by me but I finished. I got a personal best that day. Most surprising was that I got a 2nd in my age group. Not bad for a 60 year old Gramma who never ever ran anywhere anytime ever.

You've got the bug just as I do! I envy you the family connection. My husband has a bad knee and does other sports but cannot hike or run. Soon you'll be keeping pace with your husband and daughter.

I think you did pretty darn good! :)
