Wow....I'd think that would be dangerous. Phentermine is an amphetamine that can really increase your heart rate and BP. I wonder if his school of thought was the BP meds would keep your rate down enough. Good luck. I've thought about asking my doctor several times, but really don't think I want to chance it.

She made me lose weight on my own before starting I used to weigh 317 now 285. My BP without meds is 140/90ish controlled by meds and is always perfect now0

I take blood pressure med and phentermine, I also have high cholesterol and diabetes and take meds for both. My doctor prescribed phentermine for me. Phentermine is only for a short time (up to 6 months I think.) Weight loss is very important in lowering your blood pressure, even a 5 percent weight loss can make a huge difference. Your doctor should be checking on your regularly. I go monthly for him to lay eyes on me, they also check the usual things-blood pressure, temp, weight, and we talk about how I'm feeling and he asks if I want to continue. When I first started it, I've been on it about 3 months, he said that if I felt like there were side-effects that were bothering me (light-headed, racing heart rate, feeling agitated or too energetic like with too much caffeine) that I could break the pill in half and take it that way. I did notice it the very first day I took it, but haven't noticed any side effects like that since then. The two major side-effects from Phentermine are dry mouth and constipation. My doctor said that means the prescription is doing what it's supposed to do. It slows down your digestion so that your body can absorb the nutrients it needs from the food you are ingesting. It did get me in the habit of drinking more water, lol.
It has been a few weeks since you originally posted, how is it going so far?0
