Settling. Have you done it?

I was super fat and now I'm plain fat. Sometimes I think I should just settle for that. However, I keep going. But it makes me wonder how many things in life I've just settled for. I will not settle for my meal being wrong at fast food, I won't settle for someone treating me badly but I have settled for less comfy pants because they were cheaper, not going somewhere I wanted because somewhere else was closer, and in certain times I've settled in my relationship. What are some instances in your life when you have just settled for something, or did you strive to get what you wanted? Did you order pepsi and get coke? Did you just shut up and drink it or did you say "HEY! I am NOT settling for coke!" Do we settle for the big things because its just easier? Tell me about your lack of motivation and initiative, people! Tell me about your drive and success. Settle or no?

I was raised to put others needs ahead of my own. I don't know how to change that
I very rarely will even stick up for myself in those types situations either. I'm a DOORMAT

    I can relate.

As the only female in my household, I've settled for watching a crapton of superhero movies in the past few years! Some of them I actually enjoyed; others were merely 'meh' and I'd have happily found another, more enjoyable for me, way to spend the money paid for that movie ticket.

I settle for a lot of stuff because fighting for what I really want is too much of a hassle. . I don't want to be known as That Person when I walk into A&W because I demanded a manager over having mayo on my Mama burger when I ordered it without.

I'm quite annoyed by those inspirational messages to "get my dreams". Yes, so committing felonies is okay?

I wanted a Cervelo, but money was tight so I'm riding a GT instead.

I'm settled with being single for life. I've become comfortable and confident about it and I think I have outgrown romanticism.

I settle a lot for little things because I am quite indecisive and I am usually up for almost anything like what movie to go to, what restaurant, vacation etc.

I don't compromise on things that are important to me and I don't expect other people to either. That would make me miserable and resentful, and I would imagine that it would do so to other people too.

100% maple syrup on pancakes or bust.

In fact, last time I bought syrup at Trader Joe's, I settled for grade A instead of the usual grade B (out of stock) and that is never going to happen again.

I still have the bottle in my fridge 3/4 full... anyone want it?

I've got old school manual shifters on it. (levers on the down tube) but I've just managed to get me a shim 105 groupset for dirt cheap so I'll hopefully have that on there soon. both the cubes are ally with carbon forks etc but I like the force and punishment the steel frame can take.

yeah, the GT is an old hardtail mtn bike with the front derailer removed, it's now a 6 speed around town beater bike.

ride it to the gym, if it gets stolen... no big deal

I'll soon be dropping the lowrider off to a local bike shop as a donation

If it's genuinely not a big issue for me and I feel the 'mistake' is an honest one I'm usually happy to settle. Quite frankly it irritates me how some people blow up over the most trivial of things. However, if I get the sense the other person just doesn't care or is taking me for granted even if it isn't a big issue for me I'll pull them up. It really is up to you how you allow people to treat you.

I would have said I'll only make tacos now if we have what I want next time...

What I would say though is that most people in my experience do want to do right by you but you have to give them the opportunity and tell them what you want. If you don't, they can't be blamed for assuming you didn't mind.
