Candida diet

Hi is anyone here following the candida diet? I'm following a programme set out by my nutritionist that's really restrictive, (no sugar, no grains, no yeast based products, no starchy veg or fruit) as a vegetarian it's tough but I am allowed cheese and nuts.
Anyway although I'm staying g in my goal range, my fat % is always way over, which is scary having g always followed low fat diets.
Just interested in other people's thoughts x

I'm doing it on my own. Good news, it has really boosted by weight loss.2

There is nothing wrong with fat, it doesn't make you fat (when staying in a deficit)3

1st there's no reason to, restrict certain foods unless; it's for medical, ethical and/or religious reasons! 2nd you get what you pay for via, expertise hiring a nutritionist's a; step above hiring a beach body coach! Only take, nutritional advice via; a Registered Dietitian! They won't suggest that you work with, a diet they'll suggest a lifestyle that; works for you & thus, it'll be; 100% personalized!2

If it's not from an RD (registered dietician) then no need to do it. If you've not been diagnosed with Candida (which is rare), then it's just a fad diet that has a high failure rate because of how restrictive it is. If you have ANY RESERVATIONS of not staying with it, change now or you'll just regain weight.

Never heard of that diet but fad diets rarely work and wouldn't recommend it. As people stated above you should listen to someone registered as a dietician. I know the ones I know wouldn't recommend it. If looking to lose weight I'd recommend just cutting on calories keep your unsaturated fats low but remember these fats are good. Trans fats are what are what you should avoid same as keep processed sugars out or low. Hope this helps1

Candida diet is used to remove an overgrowth of candida from your body. Yeast feed on sugar, so in theory, restricting sugar and sugar creating foods will starve the extra yeast. It is not a fad, but a doctor prescribed diet to follow for a 6-12 weeks to get rid of endemic yeast overgrowth. I saw a specialist last year who suggested that I should try it to curb my chronic yeast infections but I was not in any place to think about attempting something so restrictive at that time. I am curious to hear about your results though.2

It's not a fad diet. It's an elimination diet for people with specific health issues, not for weight loss. Dieticians would prescribe it in the right circumstances.1 -

Except OP said it was from her nutritionist, and no word about any actual diagnosis.
OP, if this was diagnosed by your doctor, then follow it. I would expect some antibiotics as well. If not, then it was likely chosen because Candida has been used as a catch all blame for a large number of vague health concerns.0 -

Why would you take antibiotics for a yeast infection? Antibiotics often cause them because they destroy good bacteria along with the bad, which causes an imbalance that lets the yeast take over.4 -

I meant anti fungal. The other part that's not clear is where the infection is located. Systemic versus local. Which would also make a difference in the type of meds to treat (topical versus oral, etc).0 -

That makes more sense!0 -
I'm in the same boat. I am starting the candida die-hard plan but sugar and bread are so delicious.0

if anyone has a really bad candida infection its best to get it tested to see what the cause is first of all. LOTS of things can cause it. if its severe enough they will(should) test for things like AIDS(not joking here). it can be caused by diabetes, thyroid issues, weakened immune systems, inflammatory diseases and so on. you should not be trying a diet if you dont know the cause of it.certain meds can cause an infection too.1

Candida is NOT rare, it often misdiagnosed. Please do some research before spouting off things that are untrue! I have been suffering with this for over 20 years, the problem is medical doctors won't diagnose it making treatment that much more difficult.1 -

Fixed it for you.1 -
