Afraid I have a hernia or abdominal tear or something, what do?

Hello! I'm a 23 year old female (5 ft 5 120 lbs) qnd have been lifting weights for a few years. Occasionally- like, maybe once a month- I had been having pain right above my right hip bone. It feels like it is probably in the muscle someplace.
But I woke up in the middle of the night last night and the pain was excruciating. I had to take an aleve and it hurt to breath deeply. Yesterday I did squats, dead lifts, calf raises, and abs on the roman chair with fairly heavy weight. My boyfriend says it could be a hernia. My mom (a nurse) doubts it, as there is no bulge and I'm female.
It doesn't hurt right now, but what could it be? What should I do? Thank you!

Well of course, I just wanted to see if anyone had a similar experience or any idea as to what it could be.0 -
Women can have hernias without the bulge and they can be extremely painful. Weirdly I JUST read an article about this. I'll see if I can find it.0

I'd appreciate that!1 -
I wouldn't waste your time trying to see if anyone had a similar experience. I would just go to the doctor. I'm actually surprised that wasn't your mom's first piece of advice.2

I'm kind of a hypochondriac, that's why she didn't respond that way.0 -
Have you had your ladybits checked recently? Specifically, your ovaries.0

Just a word of caution: everything can sound like you if you want it to. Please don't diagnose and/or treat yourself with anything.1 -

?? Most docs don't expect you to research/diagnose your condition.Thats their job. They would prob prefer you don't. You need to be able to describe how, when it happened and the nature of the pain. You seem able to do that well.2 -
I have tearing, on both sides. So far, no results from mainstream Drs.0

Unless you have a chronic unique or obscure condition, Lupus, Sjogrens, etc or particular physical abnormality(knees/back/etc). And you've recently relocated and are seeing a doctor for the first time. It's best to let them diagnose.
OTOH, if you are seeing a new doctor and you do have a chronic unique condition, and the doctor wants to change your treatment regimen after your first visit, perhaps a second opinion is in order.
