I'm curious what kind of progress I'll get only using a kettlebell as weight lifting? I started jogging, training for 5ks, in January and have lost about 25lbs, I still have another 25 to go. I log all my food on MFP so that combines with the jogging helped alot! but I recently bought a 10 and 15lb kettlebell and I'm hoping that will help me burn fat more. it's really hard to afford and get to a gym with a baby, a toddler, and a teenager lol.

My nephew is a personal trainer for StrongFirst which is the workout program designed by Pavel Tsatsouline's training assistant. Very similar to the compound lifts that you do with a weightlifting program. Dramatic results! The Kettlebell is actually a tool used by Olympic lifters to increase lift amounts. I do both. I love my Kettlebell though because I can take it on the road with me wherever I go. I don't know if you have seen my success story but here it is in case you are interested in the work out that I do. I started out with 10 pound weight but I am now working on a 35 pound kettle bell and ready to move up to my 40 pound. I had a setback last year due to a shoulder injury. Or I was already using the 40 pound at that time. I am working my way up and beyond!

There are a lot of instructors out there that use light kettle bell which will add a little bit more resistance but I did that with weights and cardio and the results were nothing like lifting heavy and swinging a heavy heavy heavy heavy kettle bell! I say go heavy or go home! That is, after you work your way up! Definitely start with your lighter 10 to 15 pounds and get your form correct! Correct form is a must!

You can "get results" lots of different ways. Do you have a plan for what you're going o do with the kb? 10-15 might not be heavy enough for lower body work like swings and squats.
