Im stuck. + Hypothyroidism

Hey guys.
I've been dieting for 91 days. Lost 5.1 kilos. 16 more to go..
Due to medical situation, i can't exercise (no aerobics at all, chronic pain etc.) - plus my metabolism is very low. Meaning ive been living on MFPs 1200 calories/day for 3 months now.. and this is alo i lost: a kilo and a half per month.
Last 3 weeks my body somehow is *gaining* wait! Its so depressing!!
I have no motivation, im not enjoying this, and now im even going back up.. wtf..
Help please. What can i do to keep this going? I need about 10 montgs more.

Hi. I have hashimoto's and it's been frustrating cause the weight loss is so slow. I'm at about a kilo loss a month. Are you on medication? It might be that the dosage needs to be regulated if you're gaining?0

I have the same issue. I will add you and you can see my diet. When I first started the diet with no exercise I lost almost 20lbs.1

Hi Lilli, yes have Hahimoto's as well, can't increase thyroxin dosage since have a few other issues (chronic inflammation, post orhopedic operation etc - mustnt elevate stress level) - bottom line im supposed to somehow stick with this regime for about a year before i get to beneficial results. Its just very hard and im at a low point.0 -
I also have hypothyroidism, it can be quite frustrating I gain and lose in a 10lb range every few weeks it seems. Keep your end goal in sight and take it one day at a time.1

Tnx. Your calorie level is higher than mine, plus my problem isn't so *what* i eat but how or why to keep this up. Im just out of motivation since there are almost no acheivements, or they are so slow theyre unrecognizable on a psychological level. Its so much more rewarding to simply cheer myself up with carbs..0 -

I actually don't put a calorie level on what I eat. My normal diet ranges from 950-1050 calories. But I don't really look at that I look at the nutrients I am taking in and how my body is reacting to them.
Start back at it slow. Make small changes each week and listen to how your body likes or dislikes them. This is how I found which vegetables I should and shouldn't eat at dinner. What lunch gives me enough energy to make it to dinner.0 -

Assuming a sedentary lifestyle and you not being extremely tall, losing on average 1 kilo per month is actually a very normal weight loss rate, not something to feel disappointed about it. Start thinking of this as progress, not a failure!
Regarding exercise, regardless of weight loss, not being at all active is not good for your health, so talk to your dr about what is possible and safe: walking, swimming, water aerobics, a stationary bike, pilates? It will improve your mood too and help you feel more positive, being able to do something, it does not have to be a marathon!2 -

Are these being treated? Because having your thyroxine level right is really important! And I hope they can sort you out soon
I also have hypothyroidism and it's a pain in the *kitten*
When I'm pregnant it goes haywire and takes another yearish to settle down properly into a normal steady level!

1. Yes Im extremely tall
2. Don't worry about health issues. Promise I got that covered as for "talk to your doctor" etc.. (Im doing exactly what's recommended for my situation). My only problem is sticking to plan when hitting a plateau or going back up for a few weeks. With *that* i need your support - keeping this going and not breaking.0 -

Is this just temporary or is it how things are going to be? You do not need exercise for weight loss though, so do not panic about this too! Just watch your calories and remember you ARE making progress.0 -
I had subclinical hypothyroidism for a while (discovered it cause I had all the symptoms of lethargy, dry skin, hair loss, unexplained weight gain...). I freaked out a little because they gave me some meds (and I hate meds!) so I tried the Whole30 diet which was actually pretty good for me to get me off meds. Have to ensure my sleep patterns are controlled and that I get enough sleep (helps with hormonal balancing) and am trying to use exercise to get things a bit more stable. A step forward is still a step forward! Sometimes weight loss can be a bit slow at the beginning, but it'd get faster as your body gets stronger. I'd recommend the whole30 if you can. I generally stay away from soy and try to put seaweed into my diet at least 3 times a week.0

@taltakumi It's a 30-day lifestyle/diet that cuts out a lot of products and foods that are known to cause inflammations in the body. Then afterward reintroducing one item at a time to see what you might be "allergic" to that's causing problems in your body. It's a bit like a variant of Paleo. There are a lot of resources online, but I'd suggest reading their two books which you can check if they are available at your local library. Takes a lot of discipline and planning at first, but once you get the hang of it, it's just a lifestyle change. I think there's a whole30 community group too.1

You are not going to "cure" Hashimoto, with diet or any lifestyle change, it is something that can easily be controlled, but not cured.2

What does your dr say? Have you discussed your concerns about your weight and how this is mentally affecting you? Can he/she recommend a nutrition specialist or is there a nutrition department in the hospital? Are you in any support group for people with similar disabilities, so you can see how they deal with the same issues?0
