That seems to be my main struggle. I try to drink water throughout the day and if I haven't had enough by the end of the day I make a fruit tea. That seems to help me alot. Just wondering what other tips people use to remember to drink water throughout the day!

Carry at water bottle and always have it at hand when you notice it drink a sip1

I have a 2.2ltr jug. And my aim is to finish it before bedtime.1

If I'm thirsty, I drink. If I'm not, I don't. As long as my urine is a pale yellow, I don't fuss with hitting some arbitrary number of glasses per day.
It's not as big a deal as many people make it out to be.13 -
I have a Gatorade bottle with me at all times that way I see it more and I drink more. Every time I go to take a drink. I take 10 big drinks or more. I find the more I drink the more I am thirsty and crave water through the day. Adding lemon juice and fruits etc.... in the water help it not be so bland as well.1

I can carry a bottle of plain water around all day and I won't actually drink anything from it. I wind up so dehydrated when I do that, my skin sticks up when I pull at it. Not a pretty sight.
However, I'll drink flavored water pretty well. So I flavor my water.1 -
Drink water with a straw. I have a bottle with a straw and every a few mins, take a few sips. By the end of the hour 12 or 24oz is gone and another refill.1

Drink when you're thirsty - there is no mandated amount of water you have to drink every day. Even my dog can manage to do this without dying of dehydration.
And it doesn't have to be water. Tea, coffee, soup, diet soda, water in foods all count.4 -
Don't stress about it. If you aren't thirsty then you are likely drinking plenty. The only time you need to be careful is when you are out in the heat or you are exercising, because it is easy to get behind on what you need.2

A glass next to the bathroom sink, a big gulp type cup next to my bed, and a water glass at the sink in the kitchen. I drink when at those places. I take water in the car; I always get thirsty there!
One note, If you ignore your thirst promptings, eventually you don't "feel" thirsty.
Conversely, if you start drinking water again, your thirst mechanism kicks-in again and you'll really want water!1 -
I like ice cold water (and I mean 10 cubes of ice in a bottle ice cold), makes it really tasty in my opinion. A straw is fun, I second that idea.1

I drink weak tea, more like how asians serve it where they keep refilling the tea pot with hot water. I put a tea bag in a travel mug and just keep adding hot water through the day. I like sipping the weak tea more that straight water.2

I had the same problem. I will drink it if it's carbonated so I bought a soda stream and drink 2 to 3 liters a day,1

I have an app that reminds me through out the day2

I met with a nutritionist and she told me to be drinking half my weight plus and additional 20 ounces in water every day...I NEVER drink water so I started buying the 'MIO' water enhancers at the store. You can find different brands but for the most part theyre zero calories and have extra B vitamins. I love them, I feel like Im drinking kool aid all day1
-
Also, sometimes I buy bottles of carbonated water and add the enhancers. It tastes just like soda1

your nutritionist is an idiot.
drink if thirsty. you get plenty of liquid from food. coffee and tea count. There is no measurable figure of how much a person needs.0 -

Not everyone drinks tea or coffee. I disagree that the nutritionist is an idiot, whilst I would say that pretty much any fluid will suffice, there are plenty of people who are under-hydrated because they don't realise how important it is to hydrate yourself properly and then wonder why they have headaches on warmer days, feel terrible after exercise or have issues with constipation.
The half your weight in ounces is a good place to start (and not too different from the NHS guidance of 6-8 glasses per day) for those who aren't aware of how much they should be drinking.0 -
Again, drink when you are thirsty. The only time I worry about it is if I know I'm being active outside. This is just one more thing that people waste too much time worrying about when they get enough liquid from normal food and drinks.

People above are saying "drink when you're thirsty" which doesn't work for some people. My entire life, I RARELY feel genuinely thirsty, even if I'm VERY dehydrated. Also, a lot of times I feel hungry (munchies) instead of thirsty whey I am dehydrated.
I use HydroCoach (phone app) which pings reminders throughout the day for me to drink. You can set it based on activity level, weather, weight (ties in to Fitbit). The water amounts it suggests are just a baseline, but they are pretty damn close for me.

I also have the issue where I just don't really get thirsty so I would forget to drink anything and would end up with horrible headaches by the end of the day because I would get so dehydrated.
What helps me during the week is having a really big cup of water at my desk and I sort of have time limits to drink it. So I just make sure it's finished before lunch and refill it for after lunch and make sure it's done by the time I leave for the day.
I still don't have a good strategy for the weekend though because those days aren't very structured for me so it's harder to remember to take some time to drink some water.0 -
@idabest777 try setting reminders on your phone and keeping a bottle of water in your bag.0

To some of the posts about no need to drink when you aren't thirsty. I find increased water aids my weight loss. It helps when I'm hungry and seems to force a whoosh when I've plateaued from eating too much salt.2

I keep a 24oz Tervis at my desk and try to drink 4 or 5 of them a day at work and 1 or 2 large glasses at dinner. I have to walk across campus to the cafeteria so this helps me get up and walk around every hour or so.0

How much water to drink greatly depends on your diet, activity level and environment. Pay attention to your body. If your mouth is dry, lips dry, then drink drink drink. Just listen to your body and don't stress too much about it.0

I get the wooshes just the same. They happen regardless of if I'm drinking 8 cups a day or not.
I get that some people need reminders, but for most you are getting enough water as just part of daily life and it's one more thing that most really don't need to worry about.0 -
