Hello there!
I am a new member to this site. I am originally from Florida, but I am currently attending a university in Colorado. I used to be strictly a runner, but now I am veering more towards triathlons (have only competed in one, but aiming for a half-ironman in January). My goal is to get back down to racing weight after a not so great couple of months (basically lost motivation, quit all activities and gained a lot of weight). Feel free to add me if you would like!

woot woot! any idea which half ironman you are going to look at doing? January is going to be a harder month to find a race - the US season typically starts late march/early April1

I do actually have a specific race in mind. I was planning on doing the HITS half-ironman in Naples, FL. It will be a week before I have to return to school, so it is perfect timing.1

Good for you! I am also a runner-turned-triathlete! Ran Boston 2015 as my first marathon, did a few sprint tris, then an Olympic, did Pumpkinman in Maine as my first HIM distance, and IMNC as my first full last year. Currently training for IMCHOO which is in September. I bet a HIM in Naples will be beautiful!0

I've heard good things about the HITS race series but I haven't tried a race yet - none of them are close to me, but I have a few Ironman branded ones nearby0 -

IMNC/IMNC 70.3 was my first half ironman in 2013- I'd love to go back. a friend of mine did it last year (and is doing IMMD this year to make sure she gets her 140.2 miles in )0 -
Hello! I'm a cyclist turned triathlete. I'm currently training for Augusta 70.3 which is in September. So glad to see other halfers:) I've done a few super sprints, sprints, and an oly. Can't wait to try my luck with the half distance. I've been a spectator at most of the IM events since my OH does the full distance races. I hope to get to the full distance level myself in a few years:)2

Augusta is supposed to be a great race - a couple of my friends did it for their first a couple of years ago (and then did IM Louisville for their first full last year) - I need to add it to the list0 -
@deannalfisher
I got to spectate at Augusta when my boyfriend did it in 2012 and I've had it on my bucket list ever since. The people there are really good to the athletes and I just loved the atmosphere. I have a bunch of friends that did it two years in a row. I'm lucky to have a handful of friends going with me this year. I love having a group to share things with:) My boyfriend is doing the 70.3 with me as a warm up for his IMFL race in November.

the atmosphere at any of those races is zinging...I'm looking at IMFL potentially next year - trying to decide if I want to tackle 2 IM's (Wisconsin is a for sure)1 -

Wow, that is great! I definitely still would like to run Boston. I have yet to do a marathon, but hopefully I will be able to soon enough.
A HIM in Maine sounds like it would be beautiful. I loved Maine when I visited there before. I will have to add that to race to my list.
Oh, and good luck with your training!0 -

No one is a pathetic triathlete! What is important is trying your best and enjoying the process.0 -

That sounds like a lot of fun! I hope you have a great time.0 -
Hi, I'm signing up for my first super sprint (sounds better than novice) in September. Good to hear everyone's stories0

I've done a few sprint tris ( SLOWLY - VERY SLOWLY ) and I have another coming up in August.
I'd like to have a proper go at this one instead of half assing it.1
